Carbon Fiber Hood?

Hey all, has anyone seen an actual aftermarket hood for our cars? I know there has been discussion on aluminum hoods and other alternatives for weight reduction, but I haven't actually seen any products for the Mach - E. Thanks!

I think the hood is already aluminum (I know it's not magnetic). Not sure what difference a carbon fiber hood would make.

This car is so heavy it'd be like shaving an elephant. Sure it may drop a bit of weight but what difference would it really make?

Have to agree with this. All the articles I've read so far seem to indicate aerodynamics makes more of a difference than weight reductions when it comes to EV's.

lol the car is almost 5k lbs. 10 lbs weight savings in the hood is not going to do an ounce of good. For looks? Ok fine...whatever...but weight savings need not apply.

lol the car is almost 5k lbs. 10 lbs weight savings in the hood is not going to do an ounce of good. For looks? Ok fine...whatever...but weight savings need not apply.

So I guess I’m good leaving my 50 pounds worth of tools and cleaning supplies upfront? and before you ask, you never know when you gonna need that certain socket that certain wrench that certain screwdriver that roller tape lol either for you or might help your fellow friend out kind of ain’t heavy he’s my brother lol

What am I about like I said any car I owned I always keep tools and essentials in the car so I don’t have to keep walking back in the house if I ever need anything, if I’m on the road, I break down the last part was just a joke from a song Just a normal guy. Is there some problem you have with me I’m sorry.

Aye, saving a few pounds in weight on carbon fibre bonnet if that’s lighter than an ally bonnet won’t make much difference to me, running at max vehicle weight for 86,500 miles fully tooled up, bonnet already aluminium and so are front wings, plastic tailgate is about the best I could hope for??‍
