I got my Mach E delivered on May 15th.
One of the first things I did, was buy rubber floor mats with the Ford points that popped up in my account. Between the points and a 15% off coupon, they barely cost me anything.
Today, I get a call from my salesman that "we have a problem".
Apprantly, one of the things I signed when I leased the car was a 36 month maintenance plan (Basically, tire rotation) in exchange for all of my Ford Points.
I responded - "those are MY points to use as I please, they are gone, I will not compensate you for them, AND I don't appreciate this sleazy tactic." When I asked if this was "normal Ford procedure" and he responded "yes", I said that I would be running this by Ford Corporate and perhaps THEY could explain why they give me these points only for me to turn them over to my dealer for tire rotation.
He quickly backed off...
THEN I received THIS email..
"Steve please reply to this email
With “cancel my maintenance “
Thank you Frank "

SUCH BULLSHIT!
Anyone else run into this?

*EDITED* - Added the contract that shows NO COST for the "Maintenance Plan" that they are trying to get my points for..

If it makes you feel better those are expensive tire rotations. My 10k and 20K wiped mine out. On the positive side they did check the car and confirmed by the brakes and tires were in good condition.

It’s certainly sleezey to slip that in. But if you didn’t want it, why did you sign for it?

When I signed that I was getting 36 months of "free" service it was NOT explained that the "free" service was not so free...
It was more like "Wow! So nice of you!"

If the document you signed said that it was free, then you have a case for them to refund your points.

I just checked the contract. It says NOTHING about the points.
This looks like a scam..

Dealership here in Michigan did this to my dad. He worked at Ford, but retired before the FordPass points stuff came around and didn't know much about it. He bought a Maverick and the sales person said he would get a two year (I think, a bit fuzzy on the details) maintenance plan. We only found out when I asked him how many FordPass points he had that he saw the 42,000 point funding then the transaction removing it. Either way I told him it was a total scam as he could just use the FP points towards service and at any dealer, this way they got him just for their dealer for the service and the value of the points was well above the value of the service plan, plus they probably get a kick back for selling them where they get nothing for FordPass points being funded.

Anyway, I was annoyed but what was done was done. He knows better now and goes to another dealer. He worked in Ford Credit and is pretty well informed on all the sales and finance aspects, but this one just caught him off guard because as I mentioned it's such a "new" program overall, and they tossed it at him as he was signing the papers. Just such a scummy practice.

You are limited to 22,500 miles over 36 months?
Probably a way to sneak in only two tire rotations for the life of the warranty. 36 months or 36,000 miles would likely yield 3 tire rotations. But since the car will only really need tire rotations, this basically ensures they only have to cover two of them.

You mean a car dealer being a car dealer? Yes, it's why I choose free delivery after I find the vehicle I want. They then email me all of the details while I spend however long I want going over them. I don't have to wait for any funny stuff going on or distractions while I read every word of it. I refuse any of their BS fees as well. Sometimes it takes them a day or two to get back to me, but that ends up being some of the easiest money to make. You literally do nothing waiting for them to accept the terms. After the first pushback attempt via missed call, I call them back after 20 minutes or so as I was on the phone with another dealer.

Just saw a story from a guy's father who bought a gold CPO which comes with a pretty decent warranty. They managed to stick a $3k warranty into the mix, on a vehicle that was already covered by a decent one. They promptly got it refunded and found another to extend coverage on a few small things for ~$800 that the gold's ESP doesn't cover.

I bought a 2019 ford explorer 1 mile on od. I purchased a 2300.00 maintenance plan. First time my wife went they took the 40.000 points or whatever the new car purchase points like 200.00 worth, I asked the same question and explained My maintenance purchase. Said sorry they are gone non returnable. I suggest never up sale one of these plans, they dont want to change oil, will not change air filters and have to have a letter from the pope to get any thing done correctly. At least that was my experience at bluebonnet ford in New Braunfels Tx. I no longer go there I drive 40 miles into san antonio.p.s rotation and balance cost 40.00 no matter what

Any Ford plan can be cancelled and refunded.

Dealers try to slip in costly “services” with informing you all the time. And it is not necessarily the dealer. The “closer” makes a chunk of his income from things like warranties and service contracts. A favorite is only $11 a month for an extra year of warranty and other services. Then you find that your 72 month financing is now 75 months. That happened to my daughter. They tried that on me and when I asked the total cost of this $11 over 48 months I was tersely told a number near $2200. The dealership may or may not know what the closer is doing.
