Sorry to be snarky, I do a lot of morning and evening driving and always familiar with the worst case scenario. The forward radar appears to see about up to about 4’+ right of the right fog line out to say 100’? Or so? Thus it picked up two cyclists single file 100’ ahead or a car parked alongside the road, to the right, thus it trends right. Though tight to the centerline. I doubt it’d pick up an elk (horse sized) running full tilt left to right until it was on the centerline though possible right to left on the shoulder? Eternal vigilance still rules!

Well, it not only required a good driver, but also good tires and brakes, appropriate to a vehicle of this weight, and there still are some cars that might have had more trouble stopping in the limited distance in front of him.

It’s also about how the car did (and didn’t react) while on Bluecruise.

Started 3 pages of ongoing discussion as well. Seems like a fine thread to me.

Would you prefer he only posts threads self promoting his videos and social media channels?

Glass houses and throwing stones…….. ?

I think the title is misleading because it makes it seem like Bluecruise applied the brakes instead of the driver.

HAHA, dude I laid on the horn for way longer than 10 seconds, I was livid. That dude is a poster child for why we have shootings on our freeways. Like if you are going to be a douch and cut across the median, knock yourself out, more power to ya. Just don't try to merge into traffic at 30mph when everyone is doing 80 and the other lane is occupied by a simi... I'm a pretty laid back driver, but the entitlement of that dude....

Ya I was fully awake after that one... Pastry survived :) I normally never drive with my hand completely off the wheel, especially given I was passing that simi and the car likes to be a little too far right for my likening. Think the only time I've driven with my hand completely off the wheel for an extended time is when I was eating a Dairy Queen. Car is amazing for enjoying a blizzard on the way home from work ;)
Ford/DQ partnership in the future? :D Blizzard Cruise?

My original title was "She's got some stopping power..", someone changed it /shrug

End of the day, I was just trying to convey how happy I was with the stability and braking power of such a heavy car, and showcasing an idiot driver. :)

I appreciated seeing how well almost 5000 lb of car (plus passengers and such) could stop. I think it will be a long time before autonomously driven cars to be able to fully anticipate the breadth of stupidity human drivers can display.

You do realize there are plenty of 5000+lbs SUVs & pickups on the road. This isn’t anything miraculous lol.
And how many stop from 60 in 105 feet?

https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/...h-e-gt-performance-edition-first-test-review/

The similarly weighing Lincoln Aviator takes 119-124 feet.

No one is claiming miraculous. Just not sure why you even showed up to this thread just to dog on it.

Hey, at least he was kind enough to have his hazard lights flashing to warn you that he was about to be a douch...

Only thing the car did was kick in that ABS to keep me from skidding and gave a solid platform that allowed confidence for that emergency brake.
Just curious: what do you mean when you say “emergency brake” throughout this thread? Do you mean you just pressed the brake pedal to deal with the emergency? Or did you apply the parking brake? Not sure what you mean.
