When I saw the title I came in expecting more than macro-photography pictures of micro scratches. Does Ford use the best plastic, nope. Is the quality luxury-car level? Nope. Is it what most of us would expect from a Ford? Yup.

If you want to be happy with your quality, trade it for a Tesla. Then you'll be much happier with the quality of every future car you own.

The GV60 starts at $59,290. The Mach-E starts at $42,995.
In this particular case, I don't think it's relevant at what price point the vehicles start at. We should be comparing price points at similar trim/feature levels, which is what I think the OP was comparing against.

Are all of these quality issues from a brand new car or after driving a bit as they look like wear and tear items to me? So far I think the interior holds up better then most luxury cars I’ve detailed over the years. I will say I am not a fan of textured plastic, it’s easy to scratch and looks worse then if it was smooth and scratched.

Tesla interiors I find tend to have better wear areas but sound like a tin can or rattle up a storm.

Yeah I think the biggest issue is the textured plastic more than the quality, running anything along the bumpy texture is gonna leave marks. Also I'm sure I would've got a tiny rip in the headliner of a Genesis just like I did my MME when I tried to fit a huge dog crate inside lol

I didn't read through all of the replies but here is my take. On the back of your seats is some kind of residue from glue from the seat protectors during shipping. It took me forever to get it off but I eventually did. As far as the other scratches go it could very well be from the dealer. I was there when mine came off the truck and made sure that NOBODY touched it. Two weeks ago I watched one get delivered and the dealers quicklane employee took it and immediately bottomed it out. When I received my Mach E it was perfect. I have 20,000 miles and I do not have any scratches from the seatbelts. Sorry that you had those other imperfections. How long have you had the car. I would talk to the dealer and see if they can warranty new trim parts for you.

I think it's most relavent to look at the starting price since most of the interior plastics tend to be the same through all the trim levels.

I rather they'd spend the extra money on seats and technology than plastic. I'm sure there was a tradeoff somewhere, it doesn't bother me too much that a vehicle I use looks like its been used, things are gonna get scuffed when you use them ?‍♂
plastic is going to scuff.... wood will or painted metal will scratch.... anodized AL will wear..... I plan to review scuff areas at 50k miles and considering diamond-plate or 'swirled' aluminum covers in high wear areas. drivers side doorsill & area below door speaker are taking a bit of a beating. rear cargo sill as well from putting stuff in and out.

Yeah, My driver side door sill is pathetic after 52k miles. I wear either leather flip-flops or leather dress shoes 90% of the time and its scratched to hell just from the leather shoes catching it every once in a while when I get out of the car. Buffing the area by hand when I wash the car helps a bit but the soft plastic in that area and behind the seatbelt on the pillar is a pretty big miss on fords part.

Hi All,

I wanted to share my thoughts on the Mach-E GT that I purchased in Canada earlier this year. After keeping it parked for a few months, I recently started driving it, especially with the arrival of summer. Before I continue, I should mention that I also own a Hyundai and a Genesis, so my observations below will be based on comparisons with those vehicles.

To my surprise, I discovered that the interior pillars of the Mach-E GT are covered with extremely cheap plastic. The quality of these plastics is so poor that they easily get scratched from normal seat belt movement. Since I tend to lean my seat further back, the belt buckle often gets caught between the seat and the pillar.

Moreover, I noticed the same low-quality plastic along the door sill at the bottom. In comparison, the Genesis exhibits a much higher level of quality with better coverings and attention to detail. Unfortunately, the Mach-E GT seems to have left certain areas more exposed and lacking in refinement.

Lastly, I found thin strips of residual glue on the back of my headrests, which required careful scrubbing to remove completely.

Considering my experience, I have to wonder if these issues are common for Ford vehicles.

*Edit - I still love the car, the performance, the look, and the fact that it has Android Auto (when it works that is). I hate the implementation of PAAK and the fact that the phone keeps disconnecting calls - LOL!

If you believe Hyundai to be the epitome of quality, you might want to check out their ICE engine issues. A buddy of mine had Hyundai essentially buy back his Santa Fe after Hyundai confirmed the engine failed (multiple times).

Based on the thoughtful posts on this thread, here’s the new slogan:

I can't help it....yes, the nature of this forum is to air complaints, but..I love my MME GTPE. It is one of the best cars I have even owned (I am 71 years old and a car buff). ( have had my MME for 14 months and 10,000 miles. My son has a Model Y which has one of the worst fit and finishes I have ever seen (panels do not line up, gaps in panels) and the MY looks like a 10 year old design (which it is). Would I pay $30k for a MY? Maybe...but I would gladly pay $65k for my MME GTPE- it is just so much better. It is not a luxury car (I also have an Infiniti Q70S), but the MME GTPE is just the best and most fun car I have ever owned.
I agree with you and wrote that at the end of my post. I also love my MME. Unfortunately, the truth is that they need to improve material quality.

The way I look at it the extra cost of the MME vs an equivalent ICE vehicle is essentially down to the cost of the battery pack. Comparing a $50k luxury ICE to a $50k MME is not an "equal" comparison - the extra cost of the luxury car boils down to better quality materials, maybe design, and usually profit margin. In the MME the extra cost goes to the battery. It's not luxury by any stretch. It's no consolation, but the price we paid is not for quality materials.

In Canada the Premium starts at $62k, the Genesis GV60 is $71k, BMW iX $82k - if you want a "luxury" BEV you are really going to pay.
I'm comparing it to the GV60. Very similar IMO.

The MME GT is very similar in price to the GV60 Performance. At least it is in Canada.

You don’t need to buy a luxury car so as to not have cheap plastic that scratches easily with normal use. I had a Prius that retails for $32k for 6 years. It looked brand new when I sold it after family & pet use.

Stop making excuses for Ford. They need to up their game big time.
Yes! Finally a "real" answer! Ford needs to stop using recycled or sustainable materials as an excuse for poor quality!

The GT gets you performance upgrades, not luxury upgrades. A loaded BMW M3 is still a 3 series at heart even though its price comes close to a 7 series.
