I brought up the design flaw of the buckle getting pinned between the seat and door to my dealership. I have it in writing that they would replace that panel under warranty but suggested that I wait until it’s close to the end of the 3yr coverage because it’ll likely keep getting scratched. In the meantime I’ve purchased seat belt covers to help mitigate the issue. It’s likely that they opted for a very cheap material on these interior door panels (probably polypropylene) and that combined with the texture applied in the tooling results in a poor scuff resistance. Ultimately it’d probably have been cheaper to have it made in a more resilient material and texture at a slightly higher cost if these panels are all going to need field replacement under warranty… OR they could have accounted for that space in the design of the seat, the buckle, and interior wall panel.

I had this same material on my GTPE when trading up from my Premium. I told the dealer to put it on the Due Bill and they basically laughed at me and said Ford won't cover these scratches. I told them I wasn't going to buy the car and the Finance guy went to inspect it closer and noticed it was adhesive and not scratches and I could get them off.

I told them they could get it off, what the heck! So the detail guy spent a couple of hours getting it all off, after doing the paperwork it still wasn't done, but it was perfect when it finally was. I totally agree that this isn't just "what you get with Ford" these are lazy dealerships.

The actual scratches you seem to have are just poor quality by Ford. Where my seat belt goes is so scratched to hell even though I try to put it back super gently, it is just too tight a space to NOT scratch it when putting your seat belt back, they should have used a much higher quality piece there (and in other areas...).

If you believe Hyundai to be the epitome of quality, you might want to check out their ICE engine issues. A buddy of mine had Hyundai essentially buy back his Santa Fe after Hyundai confirmed the engine failed (multiple times).
Yep, my mom bought a brand new Santa Cruz (I had no input on this lol) a month ago and a couple days later it stalled in the middle of an intersection, no power at all. She had to get it towed and everything and the dealer said there was a known issue but no recall yet because they haven't figured out how to fix. She had them buy it back.

I can't help it....yes, the nature of this forum is to air complaints, but..I love my MME GTPE. It is one of the best cars I have even owned (I am 71 years old and a car buff). ( have had my MME for 14 months and 10,000 miles. My son has a Model Y which has one of the worst fit and finishes I have ever seen (panels do not line up, gaps in panels) and the MY looks like a 10 year old design (which it is). Would I pay $30k for a MY? Maybe...but I would gladly pay $65k for my MME GTPE- it is just so much better. It is not a luxury car (I also have an Infiniti Q70S), but the MME GTPE is just the best and most fun car I have ever owned.
I’m w/you bro’, most fun car ever. The other fun car was a Saab 9000 Turbo back in the 80’s.

This stuff is supposed to be removed and cleans up by the dealer during PDI. The adhesive still being on your plastic work is due to your dealer’s people not doing their job. It is not Ford’s issue. Your dealer slacked off. ??

The quality of the plastics specified is indeed Ford’s issue. I personally do not have a lot of wear showing on the driver’s side B-pillar cover, but we are all a little different. Unfortunately, it’s a problem of specification vs. the positioning of the belt retractor/pulley. Replacing the B-pillar cover with another like one isn’t going to do you any good for any period of time. There are PPF decals made to prevent this issue, into which you may want to look. ?‍♂?

I had the Saab’s competition, the Volvo 240GT Turbo wagon. It was fun, but not as fun as my ‘71 Celica. That car wasn’t as much fun as my ‘79 Trans Am (which is an absolutely stupid car due to the race car suspension), but the T/A (for me) is the most fun car ever. ??

I noticed that we are the same age and I couldn't agree more! It's not perfect but the GTPE is the most enjoyable vehicle I've ever had. Performance, looks, handling, economy, decent ride, and very enjoyable technology. Really like the PAAK which works very good after the update, hate carrying a key fob in my pocket. Hands-free is great. Almost 30k miles.

And honestly compared to other Fords I've driven, it is by far the one with the highest quality in choice of materials I've seen so far.
Agreed. In my opinion, other Ford vehicles look and feel inferior to the Mach-Es interior.

Until the 2024 Nautilus came out there wasn’t really anything that looked better on the Ford or Lincoln side imo.

You are comparing materials quality to Genesis, which is a luxury car. If you want luxury electric car, you should buy Lucid or genesis EV.
Ford is not a luxury car, so it is expected.
He had a GT, which costs more than a GV60.

My most "fun" car ever was my '71 Challenger R/T, but I was young then, fearless, and indestructible so I didn't care a lot about this thing called "handling."

I flipped that car onto its roof at 85MPH after I lost control and ran it through the center median of a freeway - and it saved my life. When the tow truck driver flipped it back onto its wheels it looked like a giant Triumph TR7... :)

I’m close to a year in with my MME. I feel like it looks closest to new of any vehicle I’ve owned after a year of use. That’s with the light gray interior, too.

You don’t need to buy a luxury car so as to not have cheap plastic that scratches easily with normal use. I had a Prius that retails for $32k for 6 years. It looked brand new when I sold it after family & pet use.

Stop making excuses for Ford. They need to up their game big time.
I totally agree. I own a Driving School and students are in and out of my Prius multiple times a day. I had a 2015 Prius that I purchased brand new and at the time, Toyota was giving 5k off MSRP. My roughly 25K Prius cost around 20K out the door. The fit and finish on my older Prius was/is far superior to my MME Premium.

Ford not only uses cheap material but they also don't spend money on fitment as well compared to the Prius.

Ford, IMHO is at or near the bottom of the heap with build quality. How they get by with marketing some of their products as "Job 1" is beyond me. Well, unless Job 1 means peeing........................ as in piss poor. ;)

Screaming Chicken alert! I came very, very close to buying a '73 SD Trans Am, but the guy mentioned that he could only get about 10K miles per clutch.

IIRC someone here or on the other forum has come up with a padding for that piece of plastic the seatbelt hits when you take it off. @AOSK is that you?
