If the black plastic panel is removed behind the door panel will the window fall? Sound deadening needs to be installed inside the door.
YES, the plastic thing is the window regulator and the window is attached to it. You have to lower it halfway so you can access the clips through the access holes, pop them out, pull the window up and secure it with tape, then remove the bolts and nuts to remove the regulator.

Hey Randy, no I did not need to remove the window regulators in any of the four doors to sound deaden them. Removing the speaker allowed me to reach in the upper interior part of the door and loosening the white 1/4 turn fasteners all around the window regulator allowed me to pull it away enough along the bottom to reach in behind it to get to the lower interior part of the door.

As per the Mach-E repair manual, when removing the window regulators, you need to power down the SRS system plus did not want to go through the hassle of removing the entire window regulator when I didn't have to.

I’ll have to lookup how to disable the SRS. I don’t want airbags popping out.

Mark,
I think this is the way to go LEAST invasive. I just want to make sure I have this point correct… if I turn all of the quarter turn fasteners the window will still be attached to the white plastic piece ( I guess ford calls that a regulator)? I don’t need to tape the window in place or have fear of it falling if I use this method?

You can get to quite a bit of the area in the door through the speaker hole. On the window regulator, besides turning each fastener 1/4 turn to loosen, you will see there are 2 or 3 areas where that regulator is snapped into the door. You have to give it a decent pull in those areas to free if from the door so that you can pull it away enough to get your hand/arm between it and the door. You won't be pulling it away enough to dislodge it from the window so no need to tape up the window, at least I didn't.

The regulator was removed . It really was easy. Anyone with common sense can do it.

Becoming somewhat of an expert at removing and placing the glass back. The whole process should take 20 mins
