Hotspot enabled seemed to cause a CarPlay connection issue

Normally wireless CarPlay works on my ‘23GT with my iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Recently it didn’t.

Turned out I left the hot spot on due to a Comcast scheduled outage.

When I turned off the hotspot, all was well.

Anyone else notice this?

Your phone only has one WiFi radio. It makes sense that it can only be used for one thing at a time.

Yes, had this happen last week. My wife connected to my phone hotspot when we were driving. CarPlay continued to work, we made a stop, then this happened the next time we started the car. Turned off the hotspot and then CarPlay could be started.

Not a huge problem as we almost never use the hotspot.

However, I was already driving and using CarPlay when my wife connected to the phone's hotspot. CarPlay continued to run as normal. It was only when I stopped and restarted that I saw a problem.

Was your phone connected via USB cable? You can’t use wireless CarPlay and a hotspot at the same time but you should be able to use wired CarPlay and hotspot.
