Interested early (9 mos left) lease return for my 2021 Mach E Premium for brand new 2023 same car.

New car, new lease, lower lease payment, no sales tax, eligible for fed tax credit, CA state rebate.

Big question does 2024 model have better technology, range, new features etc?

Well 2024 specs not out yet but 2023.5 lower end models have the new batteries. Nothing wrong with them but I believe they are a bit bulkier. The GT models will still have the original style. Other than that not much change that I have heard. NACS comes in 2025 but I think the big revision will take place 2026. Either way I think little change for 2024.

Agree. From what we've heard a 2025 model, one second generation EV vehicle (name TBA), would come with a native NACS port. I would guess it would be dual ported CCS/NACS and won't be the MME. I would further agree that my guess would also be, minor updates for 2024 MME, maybe a new shade of grey paint. Guess we'll see when the order guides are published!!

The 2023.5 MME's are shipping with BC 1.3 already installed. So there's no doubt the 24's will have at least BC 1.3, if not something better.

It will either have NACS or CCS and not both. I'm sure we will get an announcement of some sort for the 24 model year soon. it's getting to be that time of year.

And the Mach-E could have had a totally new design for all of it's systems, take the cooling system for example having too many parts as Sandy points out. But instead Ford took off the shelf parts and made it work.

I would venture that the second gen 2025 EV model has already passed the engineering development phases with the CCS port designed in, well before the agreement with Tesla was in place. It would be faster to add a NACS port than to start the engineering all over again and delay the whole project.

With charging providers supporting both CCS and NACS, having both CCS and NACS ports on the vehicle gives the customer charging flexibility without the need for adaptors.

Ford never said the 25 BEV would be only NACS, only that it would have a native NACS port. Maybe future vehicles in '26 or '27 could have only NACS. But I'd bet the for the first vehicle Ford hedges and puts on both ports.

If there was a poll I'd vote for 2025 dual ports!

Yeah, highly doubt it would happen due to the modules needed for each port, and the software to have both communicate accordingly. It's a full re-engineering processes to add two ports instead of swapping them out for a different module. Not to mention the weight added I could do without since that would change the range as well.

Yes, it would be nice to have options / two ports but in reality it's not going to happen. Ford said they are switching. This implies that CCS is gone. Let's not get that whole "two ports" thing going again. It isn't happening...

Anyone know if NACS is liquid cooled on the cord side of the charger port? It'd be really great if us suffering from yoyoL2 charing could get NAC'D for the replacement but I think there's still design or software crap to get that working.

Hopefully P&C will be fully removed from those with NACS in the future.

NACS is just a connector type. It’s the cables that would be liquid cooled.

Tesla V3 and upcoming V4 supercharger cables are liquid cooled, V2 are not. Not sure if the upcoming next gen Ford EV's with NACS ports will be able to use V2 as well as V3 and V4 but the NACS to CCS1 adapter will only be able to use the V3 (and presumably V4) sites according to Ford's press release.

No idea if any of the third party DCFC manufacturers or providers will have liquid cooling in the cables when they introduce the NACS plug on the chargers.

I’m talking the cables in the car, to the battery from the charge port.. It’s going to be a limiting factor if they step up to 200 amp via NACS. I’m thinking the fan blowing on the back of the port isn’t enough.
