My dealer has decided not to be an EV dealer after the Dec 31st deadline.

Couldn't get allocations for the 49 people reservation list they had for Lightnings (I was the first on the list in the first wave) . So I was their only reservation holder who took delivery last year. I was one of only three people who took deliveries of a Mach-E from this dealership in '21.

I just traded my '21J1 for a '23 GT-PE mannequin that came in (while I wasn't looking) back in May.

So about a week after that happened a truck rolls in with a Space White Lightning and three GTs. Well the Lightning was an order that somebody bailed on, and that's sitting in the back lot now. And the three GTs were sent as stock. And they're getting three more delivered soon. Again, all GTs, as stock.

They've contacted other dealers to see if they're interested. But nobody else wants them either. Even with rebates right now, they're just not moving (interest rates?). Part of it is the people who are local are just not interested in an electric vehicle of any kind or can't afford to write a check for one (again interest rates are stoopid right now).

But it's weird that they'll have six '23 GTs on the lot and never asked for them, and aren't really interested (due to cost and their market) in being an EV dealer but all of a sudden they've got plenty of stock and no takers.

I'm sure there are other small dealers in the same boat. I would expect larger dealers to have plenty of stock. But for a dealer like mine that never had any MMEs as stock before, this is pretty interesting. Most of what they did sell were out of town buys (the Lightning mannequin went to somebody in the Atlanta area).

They probably ordered the GTs thinking they would be a high-margin vehicle. Now they’re just too expensive.

A nearby small dealer is in a similar position, they have 8 Mach-E’s on the lot with about 8 more on the way. Some of them have been there for 6 months now.

Oh well, this will flush out all the little dealers that don’t actually want to deal with EVs. I want to know which dealers will actually make the investment in them for the long run. There were a lot of untrained small dealers selling them that shouldn’t have.

I am still unsure of what our local dealer is going to do. I think they are getting in three more Machs this year but did not elect to be a model e dealer. Next nearest dealer is 350 miles away. Heard something about a possible waiver that will at least allow them to service EV’S.

These were total surprises that their inventory control manager sent them as stock. They were not ordered.

The owner made some calls after they arrived and basically was told that up until 31 Dec you'll be selling EVs. So deal with it.

Oh my dealer has all the gear and the battery lift, certified EV techs, etc. They can and still will service mine. They told me that. They just aren't going to sign up to install all the other infrastructure and totally renovate their showroom. So it's kind of EV Purgatory.

Exactly the same here. They even made a full battery change out on a buy back. Only one tech though but he is really good. Just did not want to make the investment which I do not blame them for the small sales volume at this time in Fairbanks.

So today I was in for a 10K service (such as it is) on my Lightning.

In an expansion on the comments made about not becoming an EV certified dealer I was told that the power company did not have the required transformer available to install, and to add to the problem they would have had to run completely new transmisson lines to enable both the transformer (if they had one) and the chargers that would have been eventually installed.

While were discussing the 6 GTs they still have on the lot and the one Lightning, (with a newly issued post-delivery Monroney sticker that dropped the price for this Lariat to 73K, and still not one bit of interest from anybody so far) I was told that last Monday they turned down 11 more Mach-Es from the inventory manager...and turned them down again after she called back to ask that they reconsider.

It's not the vehicles being sold that are the problem, it's the frickin' interest rates on the loans that people would have to get to buy one.

So if you've got the money....the vehicles are out there and it's obviously a buyer's market (at least where I live).

Are any of them PEs or all standard GTs? Any idea what kind of deals are they willing to make to move them?

The 6 that they are supposed to have were all standard GTs. As for any kind of deals.... I see three there now and the other three are on the way, I believe.

Nah, many other cars are still selling well with this high interest. Telsa is still selling well. MME is just not doing well. The supply has simply exceeded the demand for MME.

If I am buying a new EV now, I would get a Tesla. Cheaper and less software problems. Good looks only get you so far.

Ford is offering 1.9% APR over 60 months. How much lower do you want them to go?
