So I have seen that the charger that came with my 2024 MME is a portable charger, not intended for everyday use? I am thinking about getting a dedicated LEFANEV 32A 7.68KW home charger.
My question is should I get the 32A version or the 40A? Does it matter? I presume the 40A will charge faster. But I am concerned about getting the one that works best with my 2024 MME premium.

You can use the Ford charger every day. Mobile charger means there is a plug on both sides.

I have a Chargepoint flex with a 50amp circuit in my garage. It has worked very well for me and the app has pretty cool info.

You should first check with your electric utility and see if they sell discounted chargers or offer rebates for specific brands/models. FPL has a unique program.

You should also consider a hardwired 48amp charger, because eliminating the plug eliminates a point of failure - and 48amp is 20% faster than 40amp and 50% faster than 32amp.

An intelligent charger provides things like reporting and data logging that a dumb charger will not.
When buying a charger, pay attention to whether it has UL and energy star certification, or if it's just a cheap piece of crap made by a company nobody has heard of, and sold by a seller that didn't exist a year ago.

Top brands include JuiceBox, ChargePoint, Emporia, Wallbox, ...

Another EVSE I would recommend is ClipperCreek, and particularly their “ruggedized” charger if you are worried about heat, dust, etc. I’m not sure if they offer a smart charger yet, but at least for me that
wasn’t an issue.

ClipperCreek is dead, Enphase bought them out and jacked up all the prices. A 48A dumb charger now costs $1100. Not worth it anymore.

I’ve been using a 32 amp Aerovironment (Now Webasto) dumb charger for 2 years. Works fine, lasts a long time. Installing a 48 amp Emporia charge this up coming week as a second charger.

Oh man, that’s disappointing to hear. I knew they were acquired but didn’t realize their prices shot up

I installed the Emporia at 48A as a part of a much bigger solar plan down the road. That said, the electrician put the disconnect right next to my charger in the garage, so practically anything can now be hardwired cheaply. I actually turned it down to 20A because I just don’t need that much power while I sleep. The difference between 4 hours and 8 hours on the charger is just not relevant. The big deal is to have something permanent at 220V. It was important to me to have features that controlled charge power and time. Those features may not be relevant to you. The recommendations above are solid. I would not stress about any of those. I would spend time finding a qualified electrician to install it. A full power arc at 220V and 48A creates a house-burning amount of heat.

You said you have the Ford charger already. Why not use it until it craps out. Remember it has a warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles.

I bought an Autel MaxiCharger 40amp charger. Narrowed it down to Grizzl-E and Autel. Both have great reviews online. Sale made Autel win out. Lol. It works great with my Mach-e. I keep the Ford one in trunk to charge away from home.
