I bought my 2021 CR1 used almost 2 years ago. The first owner only had it for a few months. When I log into fordpass to enable P&C and click the switch to turn it on, it responds with a generic error. I HAVE went through the process on the thread for enabling P&C. I've also talked to Ford's BEV team about this and was told that it's a known bug that second owners can't enable P&C.

Has anybody with a used MME been able to enable P&C? If so, how? I imagine this will become more and more of a problem as people buy used MMEs and especially as Tesla opens superchargers to the MME.

Yes but it required a lot of tickets that were submitted to various teams. Basically keep bugging Ford until they fix. Their internal system does not have you listed as the owner. Only Ford Motor Company can fix this, and when they do, you should get 250kWh of EA credits.

Can you be more specific? I've contacted them at least 4 times and always get told the same thing that subsequent owners are unable to use plug n charge. Is there a certain team we should contact to get this resolved? From a systems standpoint, I think this is ridiculous. Are they just trying to avoid the 250kw of free charging? I wonder if their systems can't handle changing owners without granting the free charging.

Tell them that you can’t access the BlueOval Charge Network, which is not supposed to be limited by subsequent owners. But the two issues go hand in hand.

The thing is, I DO have access to the BO Charge Network. If I didn't have access to that, I wouldn't be able to even see the screen I attached a screenshot of.

Have you talked to the Ford Connected Services team?

I have talked to the BEV team. Is that different than the "Connected Services" team?

To answer your question, yes I was able to get P&C to work, but it took about 2 weeks after I got the car before it did, and it gave me the previous owners BOCN (Blue Oval Charge Network) balance of 215KW. Then somewhere down the line it expired when the previous owners would have. At which it reactivated about 2 weeks later after being useless, but showed the left over from them +250kW. The "Here's your SiriusXM Free Trial" email will be the canary that it's all been activated for you.

Do you remember the exact team you worked with to make this happen? I've talked to the BEV team and gotten pushback of "yeah, it's a known bug". I haven't talked to the Connected Services"team yet.

I actually had it fix it's self, after time. I had an appt with the dealer that was a month out from when I bought the car. At week 3 it resolved a whole slew of things on it's own. Connected Services really doesn't grasp that people sell and buy different cars from the looks of it. It looks to me like there's a database clean up that happens around the middle of the month.

Yes, it’s a known bug and we can work around it doing X, Y, and Z steps. They forgot the -and-

Ford is banking on attracting your future money through services. I want to believe these services add value.

Just this morning I was reading a thread about a competitors vehicle that plugged and charged near instantly. Sounds glorious!

I've had this car for almost 2 years. I don't think it's going to fix its-self for me.

@Ford Motor Company ? What’s with this? I connected my used car to my existing Blue Oval Network account just this past weekend. Tried to toggle the Plug & Charge on, and got the message ā€˜Something went wrong. Plug & Charge was not enabled, try again later.’ Saw this thread and called connected services who couldn’t do anything but take my information and transfer me to the BEV team. So, let me get this straight, I can buy the car, get it registered, add it to my existing FordPass, connect it to the Blue Oval network, but I can’t Plug & Charge? Do you really expect no one to purchase the cars used? Even after having them on the road for >2 years? Really? Oh, I am already getting SXM letters in the mail, so you obviously know I now own the car. Makes me a little nervous for my upcoming road trip.

OK, after 45 minutes or so on the phone with various Ford departments I've got a bit more info. It turns out that everything charge network related is handled by the "public charging department" that is technically under their marketing department. Connected Services doesn't handle that at all. I was told pretty clearly that there isn't a workaround for it unless you happened to get all the way to the engineers that can manually change things in their database.

The good news is that they do have a fix for this that will be (according to the marketing department) coming out by the end of this month. The rep added me to her re-contact list to notify as soon as this is enabled. I've gone almost 2 years without P&C so I don't mind waiting another few weeks. It beats spending hours on the phone to work my way to the engineer to have them fix it manually.

@CarsIMBwife Don't worry about this with your trip. P&C isn't required for the car to charge. You can still charge without it. It's just a nice-to-have feature that should make charging easier.
