I drive with Bluecruise handsfree frequently in my 21 MME GT and have run into handsfree mode not activating on several trips. Usually running the windshield washer fixes this as that cleans the front cameras but on a recent trip no luck until I went around the car with a paper towel and some alcohol and cleaned all the cameras including the 2 in each side mirror. Handsfree activates right away now.. maybe faster than ever!?

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I believe that BlueCruise uses the radar sensor in the front grill, and the camera by the rear view mirror. Most of what you cleaned has nothing to do with it, but cleaning is always good.

Hmm, do the side mirror cameras not get use in lane keeping?

No. The camera at the rearview mirror is used for that.
Yeah, I knew that one was, but wasn't sure if it used any additional cameras like it does with the front sensors

Last winter I was driving on I287 in NJ in a snowstorm. The snow accumulated on the front of the car and Blue Cruse was unavailable. On my (storm stopped) return trip, I brushed the snow off what I thought was a camera and the Blue Cruse was available.
On the front bumper, the radar sensor can get blocked by snow and ice build-up. The visible camera, located right below the center of the frunk, is for the 360 degree camera, not BlueCruise.

I drove my car in a snowstorm last winter. Received notice that blue cruse was not available. When I parked, I cleared the snow from the front of the car, and it was available again.
