I’m interested to know if the failure is mostly happening with GTs? I have a standard range Select and not seeing many of any posts with those having the problem? ?
Yes, the failure rate is higher in GT models. It seems to be much lower for your model.

If I lived near the Grapevine I would break my self imposed (i.e. wife imposed) 80 mph speed limit and do multiple runs up and down it until I gave up or it broke. I have made a few weak attempts to kill my HVBJB without success. I WOT every day. Lame.

If only the Grapevine wasn't 3,000 miles away...

Edit: it is actually closer than I thought. Only 2,694 miles. I head out tomorrow.

Mike, I think @heisnuts is closer to you. I bet he can be bribed with doughnuts to beat yours into submission for you. ??

I think he is in Washington State. So 3,000+ miles. I leave tomorrow! ?

Oh, shoot. I for some reason was thinking mid-continent. My bad. I still bet he could be bribed with doughnuts. ??

Listening to Blippi helps as well. And if there are goats involved, all the better.
Thankfully I can assure you there was no Blippi, nor were there goats involved in our Grapevine-induced HVBJB. But then again, it took three Grapevine traverses to kill ours vs. @scoopman's single effort to break his, so draw your own conclusions...

And if manufactured after June 2022 all models failures are much less.

The problem with that is that you might end up at the taco stand dealership. Not a good place to be.
Taco stand dealer is CLOSED permanently!

Just go the northern route there and I’m sure the Blue Ridge Mountains or the Rocky Mountains will get ya first!

so you can “force” a hole and get a surgeon to fill it with better material than bone. Maybe cement? ???
Best part being most of us know the new part isn't any more 'robust' and is now remanufactured at that.

Some people absolutely murder their HVBJBs on a daily basis, and never get an issue, while others baby it and get a failure.
That's why part of it is the environment and part of it is just luck of the draw. Bad batch, vs beat to crap, vs "I just left the lot and it shit out".

Daily. I kid you not DAILY. I talk myself into taking the GTPE joy ride. because YOLO! and I need to give my wife something to be mad at the car (read: me for buying it) for. And daily I talk my self out of it. Only to fire up autotrader in the morning and go "It's not a white GTPE, but blues ok, andheck it's only $5k more than the one I wanted". All the while carvana is fishing me along with a kick to the nuts offer. Daily. I need a new hobby, again.

I bet most GT owners drive more aggressively. It may not be the model it may be the behavior

I’ve done three crossings of this elevation in my spicy red car without any powertrain failures. An AC failure, but that seems to be a supplier defect from the factory, and was just a little unpleasant ? no other issues in 4,400mi so far…

I’d be tempted to lend my car to @heisnuts for the weekend to break the HVBJB and then drop it off at his local dealer since they’re so familiar with the repair. Hmm, maybe there’s a business opportunity there…
Factor in the valet service too.

When all these 500+ hp EV's are going to be zipping around with road rage adults and new drivers, the freeway will look like a supersized RC Car race track. Couple bouncing off each other, 2 spun around pointing the wrong way and the one in the middle of it all trying to keep the speed control from melting (HVJB)
