If acquisition and resale values both decline then it’s a wash. Now, the price drops affecting previous Tesla buyers is another matter. In other news, Elon single handedly tanks the resale value of every BEV while giving the middle finger to anyone who bought a Tesla in the last few years.
Did he get marketing lessons from his crack dealer? Give people a free taste and hope they come back for more?
A wash for people buying today. And a middle finger to everyone else.If acquisition and resale values both decline then it’s a wash. Now, the price drops affecting previous Tesla buyers is another matter.
Why are we complaining that prices of new cars are going down? Would we be happier that all new car prices are going up? What happens when you sell your use car? That's right you have to replace it, most likely with a new car. It all works out in the end. Average New car prices spiked to 48k. That's way to high. Need that to come down. I'm glad Tesla is bucking the trend. That's coming from someone that owns both a GTPE and a MYP. I'm going to take a bath when I sell, but hopefully prices of new cars will be lower and I'll make it up on that end.In other news, Elon single handedly tanks the resale value of every BEV while giving the middle finger to anyone who bought a Tesla in the last few years.

Tesla's price cuts also induced Ford's price cuts. Although Ford won't admit it. So in the end, it's all a wash. I'm all for lower prices. If acquisition and resale values both decline then it’s a wash. Now, the price drops affecting previous Tesla buyers is another matter.
Ford has had Price cuts to the MME in the past.Ford still hasn't made any price cuts to the MME's MSRP. Think they will further increase the retail customer cash incentives this month?
I am hoping the price drops will help make EV ownership accessible to more and more drivers. The infrastructure will need to keep growing, but the more EVs and fewer loud smelly ICE cars on the roads, the better, in my opinion. Why are we complaining that prices of new cars are going down? Thanks! Forgot about that cut. Hopefully (for prospective buyers) Ford will price cut again to keep up. I think Tesla has cut price 2x since Ford's last cut?Ford has had Price cuts to the MME in the past.

Don’t early adopters always pay more? Don’t prices go down when production costs go down due to mass production? Don’t prices go down when manufacturing techniques improve? Don’t we want prices to go down to get everyone in an EV? Questions, questions, questions!A wash for people buying today. And a middle finger to everyone else.
He’s trying to get more market share before many more competitors hit the market and drive revenue to boost his share price.
Other than screwing over his existing customer base, it risks completely destroying the BEV market.
All these major manufacturers are spending billions to enter the BEV market.
If Tesla keeps prices like this, it will be impossible for other BEVs to turn a profit and the startups will go bankrupt and legacy manufacturers won’t bother with the $$ loss.
It is great for any consumers considering a Tesla, but could be terrible for everyone else.
Exactly! This! ???Why are we complaining that prices of new cars are going down? Would we be happier that all new car prices are going up? What happens when you sell your use car? My thoughts exactly.Tesla's price cuts also induced Ford's price cuts. Although Ford won't admit it. So in the end, it's all a wash. I'm all for lower prices.
No one is making you sell your car at 3 years. Keep it for 10 years and it will depreciate to zero anyways. Doesn't matter what the new car price was.
Ford has absolutely cut MME prices. In fact there are now incentives to buy one.Ford still hasn't made any price cuts to the MME's MSRP. Think they will further increase the retail customer cash incentives this month?
Yup, I stand corrected. Incentives to purchase are not the same as price cuts though. I'd like to see the MME Select start below $40k.Ford has absolutely cut MME prices. In fact there are now incentives to buy one.
