Has anybody else been getting these emails from Ford Motor Company recently to reset your password because they've detected suspicious activity? This is the 3rd one I've received in the past 4 days!

i got an e-mail a couple weeks ago. I reset my password and haven't heard from Ford since. Did you give your login credentials to a third party app or website?

Are you using Recurrent or SmartCar or any power monitoring service that required your FordPass credentials?

Yes, and I have been since June, but have just started getting these emails 10/14.

Been getting these emails every day this week. I connect my account to my utility provider who provides a credit based on my charging activity.

Contacted FordPass support who suggested that I use a different email from the one that's assigned to my FordPass account to avoid the "suspicious activity" emails which makes no sense to me.. like "oh we noticed some strange activity on your account but it's not from your own email so it must be fine"... WHAT???

Sounds like you ran into this problem:
https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...-use-can-disable-your-fordpass-account.13893/

Recurrent and multiple power companies use Smartcar or a similar system that violates the terms on your account.

1. Reset your password
2. Do not give your password to your Recurrent, your power company, etc. and don't sign into your FordPass or Ford.com account through their interface
3. Contact the company you are dealing with (Recurrent, your power company, etc.) and tell them to remove your credentials from their system
4. Contact Smartcar (supplier of the API) and tell them to remove your credentials from their system

If you don't, Ford will disable your FordPass, Phone as a Key, and any Ford.com accounts you have.

So I guess instead of allowing the Virginia Mileage Choice program to read my odometer via the OEM telematics, I need to request and install their OBD to report my mileage? Otherwise I need to pay the entire mileage use fee which is way higher than I will owe otherwise.

Correct.

Giving VA access to your Ford Pass credentials violates the terms of service you agreed to with Ford. If VA uses Smartcar, it will try to download excessive data, will be detected by Ford, and your account will be suspended or terminated.

I had a similar experience recently. I use a home automation platform called Home Assistant and there is a Ford Pass integration for it. This is all 100% locally run, so I am not giving my credentials to any third party, this is all software being run at my house. On top of that I use two separate accounts, one for my phone/personal use, and a separate account set up just for this integration. Ford shut off the account for the integration anyway, but not because of suspicious API use, but because I used a Gmail account with a plus sign in it.

On the upside, when I called them to get the account turned back on, after some prodding they finally told me why they shut the account off, and that it was due to the plus sign matching a filter for suspicious email addresses. I just made a new email address without a plus sign and I've been fine ever since.

Received same email message. No third party credentials given to anything.
Just changed the password.
Just remember that the issue is not on the customer giving out the password, but maybe Ford servers were hacked.
