Lectron NACS to CCS Adapter

Got this email this morning from lectron about their NACS to CCS Adapter and being able to reserve it. From the email it mentions shipping begins in Jan 24 which is the first time I recall seeing anyone mention such a specific timing for the adapter or when other brands could use the SC network. Also the pricing doesn't sound too bad ($250 or $200 for pre-order) considering you get to expand into a reliable network.

Keep in mind that this adapter will NOT charge your vehicle at a Tesla Supercharger, until such time as Tesla enables Ford vehicles to charge there. Right now that's only at Magic Dock locations.

That "sketchy" adapter is from a company that has submitted their adapter to Ford and other companies for possible selection. Just because they're newer doesn't mean they are "sketchy".

Keep in mind that this adapter will NOT charge your vehicle at a Tesla Supercharger, until such time as Tesla enables Ford vehicles to charge there. Right now that's only at Magic Dock locations.

Very good point. While nice to have it doesn't help until Tesla starts to actually open the network. It is interesting though that lectron wouldn't put a disclaimer in their email on the page to purchase the adapter. Just so people don't come back with some sort of false advertising

It's also interesting that while the Ford deal opens 12,000 charging ports, this ad says 20,000... Guess they're including destination chargers?

Also, Chargepoint operators have legitimate concerns about allowing just any adapter to be used on their equipment. I would wait to buy one until I know if it will actually be allowed to be used and functional.

That’s a fair criticism. I do agree that more competition is better.

Buyer beware. There is nothing on the product page that says this is a licensed Tesla product. I would suspect that Tesla will have some way to authenticate that the adaptor you are trying to use is approved by them so not to damage their charger.

Seems in the email and on their site they keep mentioning superchargers. So I think someone looked up the number of superchargers and not the announcements that came out. Good catch
