I rented a 2021 Mach-E on a trip last month and liked it so much I bought one. I now own a 2021 Premium AWD Ext Mach-E.

In my rental, the second I hooked up my phone, I got all of the prompts for EV routing in Apple Maps. It worked great and it was still in my phone before I bought my car. I hooked up my phone at the dealer and drove off. That's when I noticed that all of the estimates I saw in Apple Maps were still for the state of the rental car I had a month ago, not my car.

I've now tried to reset and re-setup everything related to CarPlay and Apple Maps to get EV routing on my car, to no avail. I'm on SYNC version 22326_PRODUCT.640, which should be new enough to support this.

The basic flow I've been going through is:
  1. Remove the CarPlay entry from Settings on the iPhone.
  2. Remove the Bluetooth entry from Settings on the iPhone.
  3. Reboot the phone.
  4. Remove the phone from the Phone List on the MME.
  5. Set up the phone on the MME, allowing every prompt that comes up for permissions on both.
I get CarPlay, I get audio, but the Vehicles entry in Apple Maps never shows up, as in it isn't even in the list. An entry for the rental used to be in Vehicles before I removed it. I've tried setting up the phone via Bluetooth and via USB in the process above. Neither have worked.

Am I missing something? The car is going back to the dealer soon for some panel work, so if there's something they may need to do, it'd be great to know that now.

You should be able to click on your apple maps profile and go to vehicles and remove vehicle and then you should be able to add
Yeah, I've done that. When hooked up to CarPlay, I'm seeing the image attached on the first message. No Vehicles option. In Settings, CarPlay, I can see the vehicle in there, but it's just the standard options to adjust which apps are present.

When you type in a route (while not connected to CarPlay) do you see the option to select the MME in Apple Maps?

No. The menu was there after using the rental. Once I removed the rental’s CarPlay entry in Settings, I no longer get that menu. I only get the “Now” and “Avoid” menus as pictured.

Nope. It’s not. The photo in the first post is this screen. The Vehicles section is never present. I have cleared and re-setup the connection to the car multiple times with multiple methods and it never appears.

Have you rebooted Sync?
I didn't even realize that was an option. Unfortunately that didn't help. My steps where:

  1. Remove CarPlay device from Settings on the iPhone.
  2. Ensure SYNC was not in the Bluetooth list (step 1 does this automatically)
  3. Reboot the phone.
  4. Power on the car.
  5. Remove the phone from the car's phone list.
  6. Reboot sync via volume down / seek right.
  7. Connect the phone to the car via the car's phone list, enabling CarPlay in the process.

https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/set-up-electric-vehicle-routing-iphc5e3a4b4b/ios is Apple's official instructions. The first set of instructions worked for me. Meaning I connected to CarPlay, tried to get directions somewhere in Apple Maps, then clicked the Connect above the list of routes to connect Apple Maps to the vehicle.
I've seen that too, but I never have the "Connect" option. I imagine it's with the "Now" and "Avoid" route menus, but that's all I have.
