As the title says, be careful going through Brushed-Carwashes ):

As a “car guy,” I’d never go through brushed autocarwash stations, but tonight… I did ):

Broke the rear wiper arm, clean in half! The station is going to take care of the damage and was also super kind and understanding!

I only took it for a wash because I had pulled the CPI trim off and had left some dirt marks. I was going through the self-wash, but it was closed due to the outside temp.

anywho, enjoy the “HORSEPOWER” shot :)

Just say no! to brushed car washes. Otherwise, carry painters tape to secure the wiper and charge door. Hand wash only for my pony. Glad they’re taking care of you.

Is there something wrong with your charge port? Why did you take the trim off?

Good advice as I have never used a brush car was since buying my new 2006 Jeep Commander 7 seater. It has 50000 miles and always synthetic turtle wax and most recently ceramic. Every person that sees us at car cruises cant believe it original paint. Always used brushless. Ditto on our GTPE and model Y. We have a family car wash only 2.5 miles and his recent upgrade was more power jets, ceramic instead of wax and undercarriage jets with 120mph dryer. Does a excellent job most of the time $11 to $15. I use a pump sprayer with 1 tablespoons of dawn in 1 gallon water. Spray at car wash and wait 2 minutes before driving in. Works as a pretreat. Does not remove any ceramic on car.

Mine goes through a brushed car wash at least once a month. No issues so far in 3 years.

Brushes are fine for the family minivan. My MME baby only gets brushless.

I’m curious as well. He also includes a pic of his charger port door?

I think he’s just showing off that he got the last updated charger port in existence. Lol

I carry blue painters tape in my trunk and tape down the rear wiper before going into an automated car wash.

Learned that a long time ago...

I also received a broken (and missing) rear wiper as a thank you for using a rotating brush car wash. I have taken many vehicles through these types of car washes in the past with no issues. In fact I assumed some jealous person walked by and broke it intentionally until I read about the issue on this forum. When I informed the car wash, they agreed the problem was most likely caused by their system and gave me a series of free washes to roughly equal the cost of replacing the wiper arm and blade. I have gone through several times again, but used mega amounts of blue tape to sucessfully hold it down.

On my most recent trip I was thanked again by a series of small vertical scratches (4-5) on my windshield, very narrow and tightly spaced about 1/2 inch long and in a space about an inch across right in the middle, directly in front of and slightly above the steering wheel. Of course I didn't notice these until after I left. I assumed that since this hasn't happend at this (or any) car wash before, that the brushes were dirty. I try to ignore them as they are quite small but once seen, they can't be unseen!

No more brush-type car washes for me.

That's what I do when I use one which isn't often.

My go to place has a service that is called the “Tesla” wash. A hand wash only.

It’s not cheap @ $50 but worth it to me.

I agree, I use Kaady Car Washes here in the Portland Oregon area and have never had a problem with my cars; currently the MME 2021 GTPE, Shelby GT500 2012 and my wife's Infiniti G37X 2009. Never a problem and the cars come out nice and clean. They also provide free, (with wash) vacuums that really work well.
