'unlocking' 3 kWhr gives you maybe 10 miles of range.... you should hope to never get that close to empty as it increases risk of permanent damage to cells if you actually hit 0 on any cell while under load creeping along. If that happens, you NEVER get that cell capacity back.

much much much better to stop at 1%, before you hit 'limp mode' and get a tow.
Not sure I follow. Unlocking an extra 10 miles also means you get an extra ten miles before you get to a damaging part of the battery. An extra 10 miles increases the usable range by 10 miles.

does not sound like you really know whether it was unlocked or not. not sure why you think a 3% increase in battery would be a noticeable "step change", 3 kwh is like 9 extra miles.

degradation, temperature, driver temperament, traffic, elevation would all play a bigger factor than that, i don't see it as enough for you to notice using the methods you're describing...
Something to consider about that 3%. Couple years ago, someone decided to run the battery to 0%. They wanted to know if they would get the actual mileage indicated.
When the vehicle got down to 0, the vehicle kept going for another 8-10 miles until it came to a stop.
Also the same test was done with the Lightning which it acted the same way. It kept going for few more miles. I wonder if that 3% is the last resort power to crawl to a charging station of some sort.

Pretty good range here in Florida. No hills or cold weather and A/C off this month.

Could you share with me the OBDII code reader and phone app do you use for your MME? I need to buy one so I can see a similar chart to what you shared.

App is CarScanner.

Reader I use is OBDLink MX. It is no longer available, MX+ is, but it's pricey. There are others that work fine - https://amzn.to/4aNcd3B

This is not true. The battery pack has a 99KWh total capacity. Ford originally gave us 88KWh of usable capacity where there were two buffers not usable that totaled 11KWh. The new “usable capacity” is the result of shrinking those buffers so that they now total 8KWH. Raw battery capacity is still 99KWh. They are allowing us to get closer to the two ends of capacity (which makes it easier to damage the pack if left near either end for any period of time). ??

Right. And the difference between the two ends is now 10 miles longer. Doesn't mean I have to use all the range from 100% SOC to 0% to find usefulness of those 10 miles.

the point is, they aren't really useful miles, they are risky miles. giving people a higher number on the GOM reduces range anxiety for people that don't understand the potential for permanent damage by going too low while under load and grinding out the last mile.

All Mach-E’s with current software have the 91 kWh update. That’s part of the BECM software several revisions ago.

Those of you checking kWh in Car Scanner need to make sure the battery is warmed up to 25°C to make comparisons since cold batteries have a lower kWh capacity. It’s 91 kWh @ 25°C for a new battery. Also factor in your battery health. So if you’re at 95% health that means 86 kWh @ 25C.
I always thought that my 2021 FE didn't have 91kWh... How can I tell If I have received that BECM update?
