Charge Port Door fell off in car wash

I have a 2023 premium Mach E I went through the car wash and my charge port door cover came off
Anyone else have this issue?

The charging port seems to have some issues. Some people say they use painters blue tape when using the car wash (IMHO you should be using the touchless and hand drying it ?).
her at the northeast some had problems with ice damaging. My dealer said they have 5 charger doors replacement a couple of weeks ago.

You’re right I typically don’t use drive-through car wash I like a hand wash or the touchless but I was desperate
Here in Michigan with all the snow, got to keep the car washed to combat the salt

I use an automatic touch push through car wash a lot and never had any issue with the charge port or anything else. I did have my rear wiper ripped off in an automatic sit still touch car wash, but it wasn't hard to fix...lost the blade so replaced with a slightly longer one.

It depends on the pressure of the sprayers and the height they come past at. Just the right height with enough pressure will pop the door open, then its sure to get dislodged by rollers. Should be able to slide it right back on, but it’s another reason I’m glad I don’t use automatic car washes. I’m stuck with the self serve car wash and keeping the spray wand far enough away to not ruin my vinyl, or hauling buckets of hot water from the tub inside to wash the car in the garage.

I've been using painter's tape since I've owned mine. The one time I didn't put tape on the door, it did open in the car wash. Thankfully it didn't snap off or come off. I feel like the charge port door is one of the worst design flaws on this car. Why it doesn't lock, I don't know.

Went to an automatic car wash for the first time yesterday and the charge port door did open but thankfully didn’t break off. Not sure what could be done about it. I’ll try the painters tape

I get door envy when I watch video of someone charging a Tesla. They have a power operated charging door.

Thanks for your responses I could not find the other thread about this Ford F**k Up wish I could because not only did the cover come off
It left a dent in my fender from the over extension of the car port door…. I love my Mach E but it is not worth the headache I really just want to get in my car start it up and drive without worrying about is it ok to listen to the radio vs having heat or air conditioning

My charge door came off at the car wash today. ?? Been through this one only once before and we have no touchless or even manual car washes within 10 miles. I slid the cover back on but I was in a rush and now it’s not aligned. We have water restrictions and haven’t wash car in 2 months. I hope I can remove it as easy and the car wash did.

I can understand that myself from being a Yooper, sorry to hear about that. I actually added something to my charged door today because I got tired of wiping fingerprints off that area when I shut the door. I think it looks all right. It’s fairly subtle. You can’t really hardly see it.
