I purchased my car in November 23 and just noticed that the front passenger door button doesn't light up when walking up to the car (PAAK) or unlocking with the fob. Also, the lock button on the outside doesn't lock the doors. All the other 3 buttons light up and lock button work. My wife always complained that she wasn't able to open the door, but after a few presses it opens. I just assumed that she was doing something wrong, but it's clearly an issue with the button itself

Is this something that I can do or if this something that needs a dealer visit? I'm on 6.13.

Thanks

I'm really curious if you learn anything about this. My driver's side has been doing something similar for a couple weeks. I just haven't had a chance to schedule something to take it in.

The button light never lights up anymore and pressing it the first time does nothing. If I press it again, it will usually unlock and then I might have to press a third time to get the door to open.

When I walk up to the driver's side, instead of the button lighting up, the number pad lights up - which is strange because I've never used it to set a code.

When I have a chance to take the frunk covers off, I'm going to try disconnecting the battery and see if that does anything (was reading another thread at some point that seemed to indicate that helped with a door/lock issue at some point).

Note: I do not use PAAK and had been unlocking just by pressing the button - not even with the FOB.

Hi there. This front passenger lock button concern doesn’t sound like something we want you to experience with your Mach-E. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? To send a private message, just click on our username and select "Start Conversation". I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you on my end.

I will update the thread if/when I learn what's going on. It's odd that it's only that one door.

I also read that disconnecting the battery could help, but from what I saw, it seems like a temporary fix. I don't want to have to do that on a regular basis.

Pretty sure we read the same thing. I figured I'd at least give it a try and see what happens. Pretty much anything to avoid a likely painful and slow dealer service process.

I do highly recommend a quick battery disconnect for all door lock problems. It’s the “ it off and back on again” for the body control module.

Battery disconnect didn't seem to do much for me. Tried to wait the supposed 30 seconds before reconnecting but it didn't make any difference.

But at least I discovered that I should order a few of the clips holding on the frunk covers. There's already one missing (dealer had replaced the 12V battery before I bought it) and I'm sure I'm going to break one of them at some point.

I’m going to wait and see what Ford rep says before I disconnect. I’m thinking it’s just going to end up being a dealer visit.

I had the same problem. My dealer wouldn't order parts till they diagnosed it. So I took delivery and 5 weeks later they got it in for service. They kept it for a week. They replaced the switch/button and the black plastic part. Then reprogramming for the door module.

Thanks for the info. Did they give you a loaner while they had it?

I’m hoping that they don’t have to keep it for that long ??

Please share what the Ford rep says! I've never understood whether, why or when my driver's side door button will light up when I approach with my key fob or phone. I can always get in, but the light is a pesky mystery.

I will. So far they have just asked for some additional info and have asked if I’ve spoken with the dealer about it.

Let them know that I haven’t yet.l, so will see what they say next

I have an appointment scheduled for Monday for mine (I have not reached out to the account here - not sure what they'd actually be able to offer over just taking it in).

That’s exactly what happened. They can’t do anything until I take it in and see what the dealer says
