Has anyone had to replace the glass roof ? My 21 MME GTPE roof cracked !
Ford Mustang Mach-E 21 MME GTPE glass roof replacement cost 1f61
. I am in northeast Massachusetts, so if anyone in the area has gone through this I would appreciate suggestions on where to take it as well as what you saw for price and labor to replace. Tried my local Ford dealership and they won’t fix it (labor) put they did tell me the retail cost for the OEM glass roof panel( PART# LJ8Z74500A18B ) is $1300.00!!! I did find it on a discount Ford supplier for a little cheaper, $981.00 . My biggest concern is that it is done correctly and what the labor will cost.

Thanks for your time and insight!!!

It's very likely that your insurance will cover it.

I am in a similar situation. I took a rock chip on the front most part of the roof glass, but it hasn't spread yet.
My windshield is also cracked from a different rock chip, and my local dealer told me the same thing --- they won't do glass.

Let me know if you find a good glass shop in the area, and what they ultimately charged.

I found two shops. 1st one is Ocean glass out of Billerica MA and they quoted $2084.00 ( parts and labor ) with OEM glass panel from Ford. 2nd one is B&M glass out of Exeter NH who quoted $3300( parts and labor ) with OEM glass panel from Ford. I am inclined to use the more expensive company for two reasons , they are authorized by my local Ford dealer and they have worked on several MME's to replace the glass roof. The other company has not worked on MME's before. Both shops say the glass is coming from Ford in Detroit and will take 5 days to arrive and will be in the shop for 1 day possibly 2 to complete the job.

Cost should be irrelevant since insurance company covers it, you just pay deductible.

Yes , i believe so, my concern is the impact to my premium if I do make a claim for something that seems "small". I have progressive.

I asked my rep and they said you’re allowed so many a year before they look at it. But I’ve also been with Safeco for 200 years now. They were purchased by Liberty and thank goodness no change as I can see

Have you had the recall performed, since it's a 21. If not take it in and have the recall done, it's free

The recall was to reseal. The glass isn’t even removed, much less replaced.
How can they reseal the roof without removing it? And the windshield has to be removed, correct? I'm curious, as I haven't done the recall yet but need to do a windshield replacement and want to do the recall at the same time.

I've never understood this mindset, but then again I don't use the cheap insurance companies like Progressive.

You buy insurance to cover losses. Thousands of dollars for a new roof is a loss.

Amazing how 2 years later, people still claim it's removed, when it isn't.

There’s a thread on here with the recall repair procedures, but I’m too lazy to search for it. Yes, the windshield gets removed, but not the roof.

Small infrequent claims shouldn’t hurt you.

This is why we have insurance.

I’m convinced it’s the insurance companies that have scared people out of filing legitimate claims.

The part price actually doesn’t sound bad. I was expecting it to cost more!
