I know it's not a MME so this is just a price guess. I took my 2017 Ram to jiffy lube for an oil change last week and the tech asked me if I wanted to change the brake fluid. I asked how much and he said that there was a sale from $119 to $100. I figured that's only $25 a wheel, now I know it was jiffy lube but I don't think it should cost that much more for the dealer to do it. Plus I don't think laying under a 5,000lb car is a great idea.

Does this requirement apply to all years? I have a Job 1 2021 model year and cannot find any mention of changing the brake fluid except for this (see attchment). I checked all of the maintenance mileage tables and again no mention of changing brake fluid. What am I missing here? Could this be one of those sections included in some copies of the main manual that was left over from other models and really doesn’t apply to the Mach e? By the way I searched Ford.com online manual tied to my VIN for “Brake Fluid Maintenance“ and the attached page was the only thing that showed up.

No way does it need to be that soon, maybe in 100K or 8 years.

I don’t know if your Mach e is any different than my 22 select. Here is my normal scheduled maintenance shown on the sync computer. Of cause your car your call.

It's in the job 1 manual in the "normal scheduled maintenance" section.

Weird. The online HTML manual that is current, does not have this section. I wonder which one is correct. See attachments.

Has anyone done this at the dealer yet and can share the cost?
Referring only to the brake fluid change at 3 years.

My MME only has 5k miles and a little over a year old. The service schedule calls for a tire rotation every 12 months (at 5k miles?). It doesn't make much sense.

I took my 2021 to my local Ford dealer today. They said they had never done it yet on a Mach-E, did not know how much fluid it would take, how much labor or what the cost would be. They told me could leave it with them and I would basically pay whatever it was after they took their time to figure out how to do it. No, thanks! When I bring my car in, they basically gather around it cautiously and poke it with sticks. Has anyone done this service with a non-dealer mechanic? If so, what was the cost and where?

When I went to my dealer a couple of months ago and even brought the printout of the maintenance schedule listing the need to change brake fluid at 36 month mark, the advisor was really surprised and even pulled the maintenance from Ford side, the one that doesn't have it. He said that if I still want to do it I need to schedule another appointment.

How important is it if it is not there any longer? I'm not convinced that it is.

there's literally another chain about this here right now. indeed some versions of the manual have it, some don't.

but what's worse, the service dept platform definitely doesn't have it, so they refuse to do it [under the pre-paid servicing plan]. maybe if you insist they'll be willing to do as an a-la-carte fee idk

I believe all FDRS does is cycle the ABS solenoids, so all the old fluid is exchanged. You should still be able to vacuum bleed the system like "normal", which just bypasses the ABS solenoids, thus leaving a bit of old fluid in the system. I plan on doing this at year 2, to stay well ahead of it, and minimize the contamination factor of the old fluid. This is really true for any ABS system, regardless of fuel type.

Been driving for 40+ years. Lived in Mass, PA, MI. Never changed brake fluid, even with vehicles up to 15 years old. Never experienced an issue.
Me either, I had 22 yrs on a 2000 Honda s2000, not a problem. detoirt area.

I believe ForScan can blead the breaks if it is like other Fords. I have not plugged in mine but it worked on my Ranger and Bronco in the past.
