I do not think the GT will be a big seller. The prices are getting up there and the range further limited. It says $60K is the price, but that is without the performance package and without the glass roof which most will want. The performance models of Tesla are also generally very small sellers, as the base cars have good enough performance for the vast majority of consumers - mach E is no different.

But if you want one this year, I would reserve. The constraining part (battery) is shared between the GT and the standard models, so availability may be limited later on in 2021 when the GT becomes available.

There is a GreaT chance that Ford will GeT as many orders as they can fulfill, so I'd say go ahead and reserve. Then feel free to have it towed to each of our homes to do safety validation drives before you drive it.

We're all here to help you out.

@sabat, I'm soooo ready to talk about the GT! The Premium looks amazing and I nearly cracked after the First Drive reviews all posted to buy one but I have to believe that the GT will be worth the wait. As my wife keeps saying, if you're gonna get a Mustang, you need to make it a GT.

I'm hoping Ford won't take us out to the woodshed for the options packages. Glass roof and driver assist hardware package as pricey options on top of the $60k price will be a tough sell.

You asked about demand...early on I remember reading that 1/3 of all orders were for the GT. I have not seen anything since but early on in the reservation process it was quite popular. As others have said it is hard to know if that will change if the price is too high.

Woohoo - I'm in line. I'll figure out the glass/steel roof later I guess.

Looks fantastic..right choice in at least reserving and you can always cancel if you change your mind. This is the way!

It would probably be somewhere $3000 for the glass roof and driver assist (on the select - Driver assist plus some smaller features costs $2600). The GT performance package will probably be the costly upgrade - it has more power, the forged wheels and the magnetic ride control suspension...I would think that one would come in around $7500

I'll concur with the others. If you are at all serious about this, go ahead and reserve. Most of us who converted our reservations to orders received a refund of the deposit from Ford within 3 days. I expect high demand on the GT.
The demand for the Gt, once it's out, will be massive.

From a cost perspective, those numbers aren’t very unrealistic.

However, a $70k+ GT with those options will make it that much harder to compete with the Model Y performance and, frankly, it will make my decision to get the Rivian R1T instead for only $5k more very easy.

If the goal of the GT is to compete for buyers who are also looking at the Model Y Performance, one would think it would offer the same features for the same MSRP but the $7500 gives Ford a reason not to make it a level playing field.

I've never in my life considered spending $60k on a car, let alone a Ford (this will be my first). I don't want to skimp out but I also don't want to be any more financially irresponsible than I have to be.

I agree but only in part. I don’t think the focus for Ford needs to be that it be competitive in MSRP. I think being competitive taking into account the federal tax credit is enough. Once the tax credit goes away in a couple of years, Ford may need to adjust pricing just as Tesla did when they lost theirs.

If I wasn’t in a position to keep my Mustang GT coupe, I would have been more likely to go for the GT. But even with the tax credits, the MME GT is still substantially more expensive than the coupe GT, an important factor for me.

Also not a fan of the Miko inserts and black leather. I’m sure in future years this will change with more options becoming available, but for now, made it an easier to choice for me to not get the GT.

The Model Y doesn't have forged wheels and a magnetic ride suspension. Those are both very costly upgrades. The GT without performance package lines up with the Model Y Performance.

I hope they announce all of the available options and the costs before the orders go up. I want to be able to change my mind and go with a fully loaded premium, and not have to wait until after the GT production run.

I was fully onboard with the price when I reserved. But I also didn't really expect the GT to not come with all the features of the Premium. The select you can choose what options you get, if you move up a level, you get ALL the options. Why would they take them back away if you go up to a higher level? The performance package on the GT doesn't really appeal to me all that much. If I could spend $5k and get the performance package and all the options of the Premium then I'd do it. But I have a feeling I'll have to choose either performance, or the tech stuff.
