As a data point, Ford sold about 1,300 last month. They currently have about 12,000 23s on cars.com. Sales are going to go up but they have so much inventory.

And then they ceased production a year later, as one would expect with a model selling so poorly that it has to be heavily discounted to move them.

Let's hope the Mach-E doesn't meet the same fate. Not sure if they'll find a way out of this $$ hole in time though.
Well, the ceasing production was for an entirely different reason: GM stopped building cars in Australia

The SS (kinda like the Mach E) was a great car. The slow sales were because it wasn’t advertised and it just plain was priced too high. $48k for a midsize Chevy sedan was a big ask back then. It also only came one way- fully loaded. Only options were a spare tire and a sunroof.

But was kinda odd was that even with the 25% off sale, it still didn’t sell quickly. And they only produced around 2500 per year. So it’s not like they had to sell that many. Once it was gone, resale stayed very high. To the point where when I bought my Mach E in 2021, I sold the SS to CarMax for $45k!

Car markets are hard to explain sometimes.

Just lovely. I just bought my 2023 Mach E Premium 2 weeks ago. I doubt I will get cut a check for the dramatic change in price. I feel robbed right now. And no tax credit.

I would hit up your dealer and any Ford social media account and let them know of your feelings.

That stinks. Usually this happens when a new rebate comes out, but this may be a little different with an MSRP change. Doesn’t hurt to ask.

Plus you can check your state for any laws that allow you to return a car in a short period after purchase.

In the past when Ford changed MSRP, they “made it right.” But that was for cars on order, not necessarily for cars already delivered……. But I am remembering something they did for delivered cars. You could could probably check the forum or someone with a better memory could find it.

Edit- they were called “goodwill payments.”

That's always tricky. If you give a 14-day price guarantee, the people at 15 days get pissed. If you move it to 21 days to make them happy, the people at 22 days get pissed. And so on. There has to be a cut-off somewhere and you're always going to risk pissing off the people that just miss it.

But that's for announced policy. Quietly giving it to a handful that bother to ask is a lot less costly to them and pisses off far fewer people, so they may be more willing to do some of those?

I think the majority of us knew the price cut was coming. It was just a matter of when. It didn't make sense when Ford lost the tax credit, the cars are still priced the same as in December. So that's why they only sold about 1,300 in January.

This applies to existing inventory of 2023's, right? Do online window stickers for existing vehicles on dealer lots automatically get adjusted with the new prices?

All of the dealer websites that I have checked near me (Western WA) are still at full MSRP or pretty close to it.

Does anybody have experience with how long it takes for price changes like this to take effect or get updated on dealer websites?

Not that I have noticed. One dealer I contacted knew of the pricing but, so far, their website has not reflected those changes. Does Ford have a way for them to generate a new Window sticker?

If I may play devil’s advocate here for a moment, why should Ford give anybody anything back if they bought at the price point two weeks ago? Everything is market driven and she was willing to pay the price a couple of weeks and be happy about it. Everyone knows that there will be big discounts to clear last years models. She was happy not to wait so no, Ford doesn’t owe anything, just saying, in my opinion. ?

Never said they should. And they definitely don’t have to.

Just that they did before, so it’s at least somewhat reasonable to do the same thing when they significantly changed MSRP this time.

Ford set a precedent last time.

Sorry mate. You bought a nice car imo, you just have less money for hookers and beer.
