Thought I would put my experience in this thread as well. I get the amber and blue error intermittently. Seems to happen more when battery is under or around 50%.

Most recently, the ambient temperature was only around 10°C (50°F). I've been using the mobile charger for about 3 months - I would guess I have charged around 4500km using it. It's been plugged in an outdoor 14-50 plug I had installed.

After being finicky this weekend I'm just going to invest in a Grizzl-E charger to mount outdoors. Don't want to have charger issues once the winter comes.

Have the same issue, amber light comes and goes. My charge rate is about 12 miles/hour. I live in Tampa, and the inside temp of the garage is about 85-88. I have set the timer to charge between 8 PM - 7 AM (work dependent). But 11 hours at 12 miles/hr is 132 miles. So long trips need advance planning.

I took my charger to another friend's house with a Nema plug outside, and it faulted immediately.

Thinking about getting a Charge Point Unit, but I need to find an electrician. Anybody has a recommendation in the Tampa, Riverview area.
Have your dealer swap it out if the orange light is coming on. It should charge at around 20mph.

I understand what OP said. However, FMC came with the wall bracket which means designed to daily use own your plug on the wall I guess. There is no reason to provide wall bracket and a screw inside charger package.

I had an issue with amber lights since 2-3 month. It wasn’t really bother me because anyway I am charging whole night but, since a week ago, it is way too slow. I visited nearest dealer and they replaced it new one today. I’ll consider to buy a new other esve level 2 charger if the new FMC break again. Until then I don’t want to spend my money for that.

I went to the dealer twice with this issue. They said they plug it into their NEMA outlet and there was no problem. I find that hard to believe. So, I watch my Ford Pass App and saw they were getting about 10 miles per hour charging. So back to the dealer again and saying, I want to see it plugged in and I do not want to hear about your insurance issues of having a nonworker in the service bay. Also, I tried my Ford Mobile charger on a neighbor NEMA 14-50 and got the amber led, so I am pretty sure it is not my house issue.

I was also worried about what if my 14-50 electrical issue? But I was not. Charger unit issue. My dealership service manager already knew this issue and I heard that he told to adviser that Ford already address this issue to dealerships so, if any other same issue with like me, just replace the charger. You should contact to dealer again. Just in case I was contacted HQ customer service. They told me same too. Dealer will replace if your charger unit is defective.

Have you tried blowing a fan on it? Personally I think it is a design issue, and all of them have this problem. I wonder if the replacement will be any better. Report back what you find out.

The time you have spent trying to get a new, and still inferior, EVSE is probably worth more than what you would spend buying a EVSE that actually works. Time is money! ?

Dealers have 3 phase power so the voltage supplied is 208 instead of the 240 we have at home. It may run cooler at the lower voltage and not fault.

Has to be a design issue as mine has the orange light on, and it’s only 50 degrees in my garage. It’s time for a recall on this faulty charger Ford!

Unplug it and plug back in. The light shows up randomly sometimes. Especially if you leave it plugged in 24/7

I hate to be the bearer of good news but +30K miles of continued charging withe the mobile adapter while at home from every trip to town on hot and cold weather as it sits on my front porch. Yes, I charge outside the garage (120v). Then I take it on the road to my son's or for weeks at a time when RVing in Florida and I'm plugged to the campgrounds 14-50 outlet. No complaints yet. Not to say it may have a limited lifespan but "knock on electrons" its still going.

The only time I tripped mine at home was when I was running a shop shopvac on the same circuit.

The FMC doesn't really have problems at L1 charging rates (120V~). Its issue on hot days is when using L2 charge rates (240V~) and there are high ambient temperatures. ??

Others here swear up and down it's fine for daily use. I'm not one of them.

What’s your definition of “fine?”

Mine is- You can use it daily for years and it charges every night.

Other than charge your car, what you expect a charger to do to be labeled “fine?”
