It’s undoubtedly a good and nice gesture for him. Me, I’ve had my MchE for about as long and have definitely been an unpaid ambassador. My gift comes in, oh, about 4-5 months. That’s a pretty long time for such a big announcement to come to fruition., just sayin’.
I've had my car almost exactly as long as he has, but I don't begrudge him a thing. They gave him one as part of the testing process, not spit in your eye. They can't give one to everyone, so it's a lottery and they give extra credit. The amount of positive and informative stuff he's put on social media like his trip last year pulling his trailer behind his lightning was good PR for them.

Seriously, there's no reason to be pissed about this.

Well stated and agree 100%.

It's just nice that Ford is giving these adapters at no cost to all Ford EV owners.

Great advertising, sales and marketing tactic IMO.

I am just happy I will have the OPTION to charge at Tesla SC locations for convenience sakes.

Past month, I was in Baker, CA and charged at one of the 8 EA chargers connected next to the 60 Tesla SC location and since EA was almost full, it would be nice to have the option to charge at Tesla - and some had pull thru stalls!

Don't get too excited just yet. The Baker Tesla site isn't currently open to Ford and the adaptor.

fyi, it appears tesla is not opening up supercharger locations where there is a mix of v2 and v3 chargers - i.e. baker. guessing this is to keep intrasite confusion down.

I can understand why some mixed V2/3 sites are left out but I can’t figure out why some pure V3 sites are left out entirely.

guessing they just haven't been upgraded quite yet. i'm actually surprised they have such a large portion done already.

I, for one, am happy to wait for others to do the testing of these.

I hope I'm wrong, but I bet we'll see several OTA updates related to these between now and June when my adapter is supposed to ship. I also expect there will be several updates to the chargers themselves.

There are likely a lot of untested edge cases that these "lucky" first-receivers are going to be experiencing. I would be surprised if it were completely glitch-free.

I was/am looking forward to having fewer people at "my" chargers and wasn't even going to order an adapter. But my partner insisted and pointed out that we rarely wait on a Ford vehicle at the CCS1 chargers: it's usually other brands.

Someone has to receive these first. It's not like Ford has invented Star Trek replicators and transporters... And even if they had, there are still >150,000 vehicles that were promised these adapters. Even Geordi couldn't recalibrate the transporters enough to transport 150,000 objects to nearly 150,000 separate destinations all at once.

So they got you one earlier than the rest of us. Mine is not shipping until June not in time for our upcoming trip to the plains.

A question
Does the NACS lock into the adapter? Don’t want some knob unplugging us like they do on the destination chargers.
Yes, it locks in but it can be removed if anyone knows to press the button in the center of the charging ring and disconnect it. The lack of security is a bummer.

He has been an unpaid and unofficial ambassador for Ford EV's and extremely helpful here for years, so yes he was asked to be one of the early testers for the adapter. A well deserved opportunity IMHO.
They also knew I was leaving on a two-month road trip today. That means lots of testing across the southeast and midwest. When you pull a trailer behind a Lightning you get about 1 mpk. That's a lot of charging stops!

Yeah. Like going 2/2 using P&C charge at Tesla SuperChargers today, then P&C not working at the EA station where we did out last charge. Hmmmm.

Weird thing is it said the payment wasn't authorized. Several times on the charger I was parked at and twice on the next one over. I was NOT going to move a truck with a travel trailer to try them all! Then I activated the station just fine using Charge Assist, which uses the same BOCN payment system as P&C.

Yep. That's what testing is alll about.

Don’t you have to have a key on you for that button to release the CCS?
I really hope that the improvement on the lock they mentioned in the FAQ thread is to lock the port when the door is locked. That’s how my i4 works.

With just that one test, you've already earned the $230 that the device will retail for.

Keeps the Tesla hoi palloi from becoming restless. If site utilization is already high then adding an increased charging load that also consumes multiple spaces could ruin the experience for all.

After all there is going to be some resentment for taking two Tesla spaces to charge one Mach-E and even more when you park awkwardly to make the cable reach.
