haha - yeah i think i'm 0 for 4 on EA plug and charge. will be interesting to see if it actually works properly with a supercharger. of course god knows if i will get my adapter. no email but a ford CSR claimed they could see the order (they insisted it was only a "reservation" though)
It's weird how they interchange 'reservation' and 'order'. The subject of the e-mail Ford sent is " Your Fast Charging Adapter is reserved ", but it contains an order number and a button to click to "Check Order Status". The web page the button links to says " Your adapter reservation status" in large font and also lists the order number. ? ? ?‍♂ ?‍♂

Its not super obvious, but all Teslas have their charge port on the rear left/driver side. So the existing Superchargers are all setup for the cars to back in and have the cable be just long enough. With the front left/driver side port placement that Ford is currently using, you actually need to park in the adjacent stall to use the SC. This means effectively you are using two stalls for one car.

A lot of comments on the Tesla forums are upset about this, but in the end it is was Tesla's decision to open up the network, and they knew full well this would be an issue. Hopefully everyone can get along out there.
Huh. I see two spots but only one plug in the video. Right?

yes, in fact when i called to ask if they had gotten my order, the CSR hurriedly corrected me saying something like, "these aren't out yet -- you mean you reserved an adapter, right?" i was like "OK... yeah" cause it's maybe a distinction without a difference. i punched something in on a website and some time later i'll receive something in the mail. sounds like an order to me.

Ford can be so stupid about some things for no particular reason. You should've replied to the CSR "Of course they're out. I've seen pictures and video of them in use. I've even seen the box they come in with Jim Farley's message on the lid". ? ?

Good video. But I'm bummed that I couldn't get the entire Security Guard School phone number.

When you place an order there is an expectation of a timely delivery. When you place a reservation for a product there is not. Ford is just being smart in their nomenclature. I'm really surprised at all the , "Looking at a gift horse in the mouth" going on. I suppose I shouldn't be.

I know how easy it is to gripe about this stuff, but I really hope that we all take a second to acknowledge that Ford is doing something really good here, that they didn’t have to. Don’t pester the employees, don’t complain that others have the adapter and we have to wait until June. If it wasn’t for Ford’s leadership in this whole thing, this transition to NACS might not be happening. Tesla does charging right, and although I hope to never “have” to use a Supercharger, I’m really glad I will have the option.

Well said.
I in no way meant to imply that I don't appreciate the complimentary adapter. I just think it's silly that they use both reservation and order on the app, website, and email, but are scared to call it an order on the phone.
I fully agree with you when it comes to the "Ford's not getting me my free stuff fast enough" posters.

You weren’t at a 150kw station? They don’t show on the map. Only 250kw and above work.
I think I'm missing something significant. I've not used a Tesla supercharger station.

The MME is only capable of receiving 150kW charging input. The MME can regulate the current coming into the HVB, as it does at charging stations that output 'up to' 350kW. Are you saying the charging station needs to be rated at up to 250kW in order to charge using the adapter?

Thanks in advance.

As I said before, to me, placing an order indicates a delivery within a certain time frame. While making a reservation is like saving a place in line. It's just good business sense to not falsely raise your customers expectations. BTW, there is no way to "order" an adapter. All the hyperlinks say Reserve.

It doesn't have to do with the charging power directly, it has to do with the generation of the charging station. Version 1 and 2 superchargers used a proprietary protocol, but starting with version 3 superchargers they adopted the CCS communication protocol even though the pinouts of the connector aren't strictly CCS. It just so happens that Version 1 and 2 had a charging power of 150kw or less, but version 3 are 250kw.

So, you can tell the supercharger speaks CCS because it has a charge power of 250kw or more, and thus we can only use 250kw-capable stations.

Lol I was looking for the exact answer. Apparently they’re gonna be under the Ford network but my question was that too now that I’ve gotten a new electric Mustang and I’ve never used any charging stations yet
That's EA incentive.

To tell you the truth, I just looked in my FordPass which always shows Electrify America now I have six Tesla charging stations and it says in network so I’m guessing the 250 kW they give you when you buy your car are gonna be good to go at Tesla once I get my adapter

Will the free KWhs from Ford be applied if you P&C at a Tesla charger with the adaptor?
The ONLY place free hours can be used is EA.

Not weird. You are reserving one because it is free. It is being processed by Ford's parts system which handles orders.
