First of all, that was a Steve Jobs caliber unveiling, complete with the "one more thing". Pretty fun IMHO.

Second, they have my $100 to get in line for the R2. I'm not going to get too excited until we see more details and get closer to the actual ordering process, but I like what I saw today and could easily see the R2 replacing my 2022 Premium ER AWD MME.

Rivian pulled a huge surprise and introduced the R3 as well today, which is even smaller than the R2. R2 starts at $45k.

that R3X though - nice. ? with the new 4695 form factor battery it will be interesting to see if they can ramp production and performance.

R2 interests me the most.

I won't get another R1S/T unless they go 800V. A large battery EV (cough Lightning and Cybertruck) need wickedly fast charging for any sort of road trip.

Just says "after R2", so a bit too far out to have those details yet. But smart to announce the small, cheap (presumably) commuter-like EV that many have been clamoring for. I'm guessing $35,000, but pure guess.

Only thing is I keep seeing 1977 Chevy Chevette. ?

I was thinking the same thing watching the live stream. I didn't notice a charging port if there was one.

i may have spoken too soon - it MIGHT be these in the rear passenger side but the R2 pics are pretty iffy:

I think the R2 looks great. Can't wait to dive into the specs and pricing. I've always thought the R1S is just a little bit boxy for my tastes and I certainly like the starting price. I'm intrigued. I want to dump my Grand Cherokee before it, inevitably, has a major maintenance issue....but it will be awhile if 2026 is when they will be delivered. Meanwhile will keep enjoying my Mach E!

I saw that too. Here's a little clearer cap from the video. Right-rear would be a weird choice though.
