It's not removed unless the dealer or their sub-contractor refuses to follow specific directions. Ask me how I know.

Cost should be irrelevant since insurance company covers it, you just pay deductible.

TONS of insurance companies do not cover glass if you are in regions that gravel roads in the winter for traction. I've been telling new owners to just get the KARR Guard glass and dent add-on with the car. It will cover all glass and hail damage. For $1600 it pays for itself very quickly. If you use your insurance deductible more than once in a 2-year time span they will drop your glass coverage. I live in a region where it is necessary. I've gone through 3 windshields. My glass coverage has come with a 1k deductible for the last 10 years.
