I finally did the replacement for this last weekend:

Me to my 8 year old: "Want to help me work on the car, we have to watch a youtube video then do these steps. And see how easy that looks? I will probably end up breaking a plastic clip and cursing"
8 year old: Finishes the video, runs out to the car, takes down the glove box, cant get the clip to pry so asks me (I break the first clip and proceed to curse) then he finished the install himself without issue.
What’s up with the stupid clips? I broke one too. It was an awkward installation and half ass design.

Great story. MIT could be in his future.

Seriously, but this sort of thing isn't my strength. I did a simple badge swap on my Bolt to black badges, snapped every clip on the front and just super glued the new badge on.

I swapped cabin filters on a number of vehicles and it was always a breeze. This one was not smartly designed. It’s not you (or me), it’s the car.

You can't just pop the clip, I think you have to push in to take the pressure off the clip. Also I've found with these little plastic parts you can't do it when it's under 60 out, gets brittle.

Agreed! Enjoy hanging out with the kid while he’s still interested. I had my daughters help me change tires and wash cars when they were his age. I don’t see them anymore. iPads over dads everyday of the week!

I have two boys, gotta keep the interest in cars alive, they are already arguing over who gets the MachE in 8 years, I use that to tell them to keep the interior nice, "you don't want a gross car when you get it"

Why not a HEPA rated filter for the same price? https://a.co/d/0b9Rs6L
HEPA is too restrictive for a regular vehicle HVAC. You could run into airflow issues (car takes longer to heat and cool). A HEPA filter would have to be 2-3x larger area to flow enough air, which is what Tesla does. We don’t have the room to make that work.

I swapped to that HEPA filter a few months ago.

I see zero difference in airflow and cooling capabilities. ?‍♂

Ford parts site says the correct part number is FPP100. Which, of course, is out of stock.
