Anyone know if you have PaK setup and you have both your phone AND the fob in your pocket, which one does the car use to authenticate you and unlock the car?

No way of knowing, but it won’t make a difference which it grabs first, both are tied to your profile. The only real issue is if 2 people get in the car, both with PAAK setup.

Based on my real experience of only 6 months, the correct answer is always always always carry your fob at all times and do not trust the PaaK.

I understand there is a back-up password and that is nice, but it is rather vexing to be asked for the password while you are sitting in the car with your phone telling you it's connected to PaaK.

Based on my experience at about 1 year, I don't carry my fob and have never carried my fob after it was setup. I'm sure that could vary depending on your phone but my android phone has worked great.

I’m coming up on two years and have never carried my key. That said, for some reason the connection to paak has slowed at some point in the last couple months. I don’t know if it was an iPhone update or Ford update that did it, but lately I find myself standing outside the car for thirty seconds before it connects.

I had some user problems when I first started using PaaK. One time the kid turned off Bluetooth in the car. I also disabled Ford knowing my location unless the App is currently running. That means I have to bring the FordPass App up to unlock the car. I am okay with those issues. Have not carried a key fob for a year. I’ve been prompted for a backup pass code twice. Both times a phone reboot fixed it. It is interesting that the conditions that will allow you to unlock the car do not appear to be the same as those that will start the car.

Android user here... I have used PAAK exclusively for the 18 months I've owned the car.

I continue to use it because I consider it a big plus to not need to carry a fob, but PAAK is hands down the biggest annoyance I have with my MME.

Like you are experiencing, sometimes I have to wait 30 seconds or more outside my car before it lets me in, other times I see the welcome lights when I get 10-20 feet from the car. And the "No Key Detected" when I am driving down the street really grates on me from time to time.

I so wish these would be fixed, but the benefits of no fob for me outweigh the PAAK annoyances and inconsistencies.
