I think the only thing they have in common is being three phase AC permanent magnet motors... The front non-GT motor is significantly smaller than the rear one, running at lower power and perhaps less stress.
"Less stress" except in our Adventurer Mach E, he hee

So a follow-up bit of info... today I went to the dealership and talked with both the service advisor and the EV tech. My car has a COPIS case opened (by them) and a front motor which needs to be completely replaced, under warranty. They expect the new front motor in early next week, and the car to be repaired by Friday next week.

The EV tech showed me a pic he snapped of the front motor's electric connector to the HV battery (the motor connector on teardown videos which plugs up with the big fat orange cord which then connects to the HV battery). Fluid internal to the motor (by inference, the cooling oil) was visibly leaking from amongst all the connector pins on the motor side when the tech pulled off the big orange cord and continued to leak thru the uncoupled motor connector when he snapped his picture.

Visibly, a major seal / sealing compound barrier had failed inside the motor. This in the EV Tech's opinion had generated the dozen+ orange alert and SVS messages on the IPC while my car simultaneously lost power to the front motor last week.

No analysis yet on why the internal seal(s) had failed... heat buildup? ...internal oil pump failure? ...something else?

As I am getting an entire new front motor, I asked the EV Tech and SA to also drain and replace the rear motor's internal oil, at my cost. This way, the oil drain & replace future actions will remain synchronized, and (my fervent hope) whatever had caused the front motor system to go BLOOOEY... perhaps our driving?? may be mitigated before the rear motor also goes out to lunch.

Ford Corporate is compensating the dealership for a loaner Ford Escape for me until this is fixed.

The dealership told me this type of failure in the Mach E is, to their experience, "not unprecedented but very rare so far".
So I picked up my repaired Premium AWD Extended Battery Mach E yesterday.

The dealer diagnosed a completely failed front motor (see above), got an expedited front motor via COPIS and put it in... all within pretty much a week or so.

I had a look at the dealer's warranty invoice to Ford Corporate... just a look because it wasn't mine to keep or to pay. Just over $4,500 in parts and just over $2,500 in labor. I separately asked the tech shop to change out my rear motor fluid, at my cost, to keep the motor end drive fluid schedules the same for the future.

I am very pleased with the speed and the quality of this repair... it was really major surgery on the power train of the car. Ford Corporate covered the dealer's cost of the dealer-loaned Escape SE as well. The car drives well now.

Those members in the Washington DC Beltway area, the dealership is Malloy Ford on Little River Turnpike in northern Alexandria, formerly known for decades as Jerry's Ford. Two EV techs in the maintenance bay, one of them is the shop foreman. Service Advisors know what they're talking about, and they go dig up and learn whatever is new to them, at their initiative. A Big Thumbs-Up to this service team.

Brake fluid is every three years.
I was referring to the fluid in the motor drive end units. It should be changed NLT every 150,000 miles, although mine will be changed every 50 - 60 thousand miles.

I understand that but I was just adding that it says that the brake fluid should be replaced at the three year mark.

My car threw the P0C2A code a couple days ago. Next available service date isn't till Valentines Day, so I'm driving my ICE truck again. It hasn't done more than 500 miles since I took delivery of the Mach E two years ago. Boy is it strange (and unpleasant) paying for gas again...

Fingers crossed the parts for repair won't take too long to get in. Should I open a case with Ford if I've already booked the car in to the dealer?

Yes, open a case with the Ford BEV team. Leet them know the Dealer's name, location, and your VIN (and of course your issue). ??

Dropped my car off today after receiving the "Powertrain malfunction/reduced power" + Service Vehicle Soon message.

Dealership ordered a rear electrical drive assembly oil pump. Unsure what codes the car was throwing. Driving the car is not recommended.

2021 SR RWD with about 24k miles. No issues prior to this. Now we wait

Exactly the same thing happened to my AWD, I saw how when the mechanic released the cable it began to release oil through the connector.

@21st Century Pony I am curious about the cost for them to change out the rear motor fluid. Was it a few hundred or a few thousand dollars. If the cost is reasonable, I may change my maintenance schedule and change mine out sooner. Your dealer cost may be much different then the opposite coast, but it gives me an approximate cost.

It wasn't beyond reasonable... something like $240 as far as I remember.

Of course they already had my car up on the lift and prepped, with the front motor replacement under warranty. Whethet that affected my price or not, it surely would have saved them time and hassle.

Add me to the list of people who have had a POC2A and P0B0D failure. These gave me a "service vehicle soon" warning. After taking the vehicle in, these failures were confirmed and it took about 2 weeks to get the vehicle back due to parts backorders. 2021 Mach-E GT Job 2. Mine was covered under warranty. It involved around 30 parts (many being fasteners of various kinds)

My 2021 GT PE Job 2 with 31,000 miles started throwing POC2A and P0B0D codes last week. It's scheduled to go to the dealer on Wednesday. I've had a good experience with University Ford in Durham, NC, so far, so I have my fingers crossed.

Dealer confirmed the rear motor's oil pump failed. Part arrives Friday (I dropped it off on a Wednesday morning) and work should be done by Monday. Much quicker turnaround than some of the earlier stories from "parts shortage" days!
