Everyone knows Tesla is at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to build quality, but every time I see one of these videos I wonder who would buy one. Funny thing is I know people who have bought them, had a ton of problems, and still like them. Go figure. On the other hand, people who have bought one more recently -- say the last two years -- seem less enamored.

In this regard, the most telling line from this video comes at 3:57, when the guy doing the video says: "Again not great, but I guess that's what you get when you get a Tesla". Amazing coming from someone who just spent $45K to get one. LOL

The more I think about it, the more I believe Tesla will be in trouble in a few years -- maybe not financially but with expectations. There are a lot of people that want a Tesla because they think it is cool. But I know a lot of people that don't want them -- ever.

I also think the E F-150 will be huge. Of course, the press will beat it up if it doesn't match the cybertruck range, but I know a lot of F-150 owners that won't care. Like my cousin, he has always had an F-series and owns a decent sized farm. He uses it around town and out on the farm, but that's it. He probably averages 40-50 miles most days and maybe the occasional 150 mile day. If he travels with the family, they have a nice SUV they take. He might be tempted by a BEV F-series, but I don't think the Cybertruck will appeal to him at all -- especially if you need to use a touchscreen to open the glove box or adjust the air vents.
Or look like you are heading to the next Mad Max movie filming. I just can’t get past the looks of it. Some people will love it. I hate it as much as a I hated the Pontiac Aztec.

tesla has to move fast right now. Really fast. the credits they sell are going going away each year. Elon is smart we all know that. That is why he jumped into the Asian market so fast. Tesla needs to get a big lead there more than sales here in America.

The number of people there in china will really help tesla, and way more than the North American market of the hard to get into the euro market. The fines and regs in the euro are way different here.
You have to drive with your lights on at all times in Switzerland.

Apple, if they really go for it would be the death of tesla more than the other auto manufacturers. The brand loyalty to the apple brand where in California almost 50% of all tesla sales are would split between tesla and apple. You cannot survive that amount of loss for any auto manufactuer.

One of the things I wonder is if they will even consider the ergonomics for a work vehicle, probably not. Not sure how it will be possible to do things with with gloves on, such as the touchscreen or the small door handles.

I should point out I'm focusing on work gloves, since I know there are touchscreen gloves, but those are not likely to be durable for work.

And I don’t even think it’s going to be as easy for them as they might think in China. Reports coming out of the Shanghai factory are not great. They had a chance to make a good first impression locally and they f**ked it and had to recall 29,000 cars because of dodgy parts from suppliers, workers seeing all their share options disappear, HR department dealing with lines of resignations and struggling to back full so workers forced into double shifts. It’s a total shit show.

Yep, cheaper parts are biting tesla hard. The sound system in model 3 is really just a knock off version of the B&O. Model 3 sounds better than model s or model x.
Hard when your just starting and cars are not making a profit to put in higher end products.

I doth my cap to what they’ve achieved so far and how they’ve got us to the point where EVs are now viable options. They’ve paved a path to the future... but they should pivot to licensing their Software and Battery Tech and further working on FSD (after they acquire a Lidar mfg... although apparently SpaceX make their own), and step away from manufacturing all together... or sell to VW... but they are clearly not getting better at assembling cars over time, arguably they’re getting worse... as they’re frantically rushing to make quarter numbers, scale up operations and keep shareholders happy.

Tesla has been offered many many times for sale. No one purchased it. Why is that? we don't know.

Nobody would buy Tesla at that valuation.
yep

Here is something we can think about. So if ford sales around 50,000 mache this year and 25,000 in North America where would that but the mache in sales vs other BEV.

Model y and model 3, I would say number 1 and 2. But who will be 3rd next year? where will the mache be?

remember ford was only expecting to sell 20,000 mache worldwide wide 2021 and now 50,000 if not more. more than 100% increase.

Those presumably will be for calendar year 2020. There won't be hardly anything for MME sales in that since it just started selling in the last few days. I would presume orders don't count in sales figures, only actually completed sales.
Rules of accounting for auto makers allow them to report the earnings ... pretty much as soon as the car rolls off the assembly line. This is because they don't sell the car direct to a consumer, they sell it to the dealer (who, in turn, sells it to you). Because *every* car rolling off the line was to fill an order already placed, they are allowed to recognize the revenue from it as soon as the car is built.

The car need not make it to the dealer ... much less be sold to a consumer. If I understand correctly, it doesn't even have to ship. It just has to be "built".

In the auto, manufacturer world it's called "turn left" Once that vehicle turns left and goes out the door and parked it's sold. Belongs to the teamsters in turn they move it to the dealer. Anything happens to it from the lot to the dealer, it's on the teamsters.
