Newly Designed FordPass 5.0 App®: What to Know

Let me revise that. If I turn on dynamic font size under accessibility options, and set it to the smallest possible font - too small for me to use comfortably with other apps, then and only then will "controls" fit into the space. The solution is if Ford's app programmers not use dynamic font sizing and hard wire "controls" so it always fits within the button.

The first time I used 5.0, all the functionality seemed to work (Samsung S23+). Then the location button stopped working.

Reinstalled the app, no luck. Cleared the cache, logged off and back on, .. no effect. Then I rebooted based on advice up thread, and the location button started working!

Is the location map still working. I restarted the phone and it worked once and then stopped. My wife and I both have Samsung S23+ phones and they both behave the same. It appears they didn't test it on many phones and could be problems with Android 14.
What phone are you using?

Hi Mustang Mach-E owners! If you recently updated your FordPass® app, you may have noticed it looks a little different. We are pleased to share that we have rolled out a newly designed app that is easy to use and efficient, to help you better manage your vehicle remotely. Here is what is new:

• Simplified Experience: We have reduced the number of steps it takes to access functions and made it easier to find them. As an EV owner, you can enjoy a simplified slider for target charge. Also, instead of having to press and hold to turn the vehicle ‘on’, it is now a simple tap.
• Apple Watch Integration: If you have an Apple Watch, in addition to lock/unlock and remote start/stop, you will also be able to use the following features from your wrist:
  • View battery level and range
  • View charging status, including: Charging speed, next departure time based on when desired charge is reached, current preferred charging window
  • View vehicle location
  • Activate horn and lights remotely

We are also continuing to improve the in-app experience with this latest version. If you notice a feature you previously used before is no longer there, don’t worry. The feature can still be accessed via your in-vehicle touchscreen.

I was surprised, and not too thrilled that FP5.0 auto-updated on my phone without my approval since I had turned auto-update off. I noticed when I got in my car to depart for work, and 'no key was found'.

Fortunately, once I re-started FordPass, PAAK eventually re-connected. I have not reviewed any other features in 5.0, because PAAK is the only thing I use it for except to occasionally make sure my doors are locked.

I noted a few settings were changed from the way I had left them, which I'm not happy about since I will have to go thru everything and turn off all the 'driver assist' and alert stuff again....

Nothing major seems broken, but I don't like forced updates and changed settings.

Absence of the trip planner is a huge negative for me. The updated app should not have been released until all functions were included.

Is there any way to get the old version back Ford?

Same hear. It looks like they forgot to test it on Android phones running Android 14.
It's hard to find good help nowadays.

Iused to be able to map my route in the Ford App and would show where i might stop to recharge now it wants to switch to apple google or waze maps. Which dont show the stops.

i like the old app better. i like seeing if the car has been updated lately, cant find on new app, tried to open on watch, says i have to have a passcode on my watch. I dont want a passcode on my watch, so i guess i cant use it there because its not going to force me to add one to something i dont want it on.

So after you back out of your location map, you're able to immediately open your location map back up. That's what I'm having problems with.

You don't need to start your engine since there is none. If you want your car's climate control to start remotely, select the fan icon.

It's the fan icon. Starts HVAC.

Yeah, I'm seeing a lot of people having trouble wrapping their head around the fact that "Remote Start" on an EV really just means the HVAC turns on, that's it. So switching to the fan icon makes more sense than a start button. It should have always been that way, but it was another ICE carryover.

Yes that is absolutely a software bug they need to fix that.
