The race is on to see which I'll see first: My 2-month delayed adapter, my 8-month delayed BC upgrade, or the end of my Ford Options term in July 2025. It's kind of an intriguing question, and I honestly don't know what to expect.

Nothing has been shown that they aren't coming. NOTHING.
I guess I was just venting. I took delivery in 12/22 with the hope of fun and excitement of regular updates. The only tangible update I have received in a year and a half is the camera button up top. Improved BC was promised and hasn't happened. 6.14 with at least some UI improvements hasn't happened yet for me and many after how long already?, and the nacs adapter was already delayed and now timing is in question by Farley himself. I don't even need the adapter, it is just the general disappointment of all of this stuff. Sorry to have ruffled feathers.

This pretty much checks out. I should have clarified to say "doesn't have any interest in owning an EV right now"

Considering my experience with the MME, charging, software issues, resale values, politics, etc... I don't even want a 2nd EV...one EV in the garage at a time is enough for me.

I'm only about 9 months in EV ownership experience.
I 100% impulse purchased a pristine 5 year old Leaf while looking for a beater for one of the kids. I could never have predicted that I would enjoy the car so much and learn how little my assumptions about EV's were accurate.
That led me to my recent (3 months ago) acquisition of the GTPE.

My beloved Powerboost, Porsche, Mazdarati (MX-5) and multiple motorcycles are all stunned at the amount of time they sit in the barn on trickle chargers. ?

Sure, there's some minor warts with EV ownership in my use case, but I'm having a ball. Admittedly, I'm not needing DCFC to get there from here, if you know what I mean.

Gee, I wonder if the delay has something to do with Musk firing the whole Supercharger team? I can't imagine working for him.
Apparently it wasn't just the Supercharger team, it was the whole Charging team. Tom Moloughney rated the new Tesla Universal Wall Charger as one of the best of 2024. In the video he discussed reaching out to his contacts at Tesla to send them the trophy and having emails bounce back.

Ford can make good on the promise and get them from another vendor.
No other adapter has been approved by both Ford and Tesla.

My A2Z that I ordered about 3 weeks ago, cancelling my Lectron, is slowly moving across the continent and is predicted to arrive on my doorstep this coming Monday. Feeling good about cancelling Lectron and moving to an adapter that actually exists.
I did the same thing, installed with my A2Z charger at a Tesla Supercharger station. Worked flawlessly! But man, you really have to hug the line and get close to the curb to make the cable reach!

This whole EV thing is just one big running joke. No wonder why now less than 25% of Americans have any interest in owning an EV
Where did you find that statistic?

On ford.com. Free adapter with an ESTIMATED date. You can find the promises through a link on the My Account page.

No need to thank me.

  • "We have a 100,000 applications for the [NACS] adapter."

If thats the case, and Jim is asking Elon for 90k of them, then as somebody with an order in the 3000's range, does that mean mine will be here soon? Wishful thinking, I know, but hoping it holds true lol
Listen to the interview. Farley isn't doing parts order accounting. He says "I think we have 100,000 applications for the adapter"

Do people still think Tesla will put any further effort into any of this? Like you seriously do? Has any manufacture gained access since the layoffs? Any adapters ship? Tesla will walk away now that others are building out NACS.

I think a few things are true at the same time...

  • Overall EV sales continue to rise even if no individual car maker deems it successful.

  • For bizaro (to me) reasons EV's have become a political badge... to be a conservative, you apparently have to hate EVs.... Today I drove past Gresham Ford and their new bank of fast chargers (6 I think) are completely iced by pickup trucks. Lots of other places to park, but here we are.

  • For me the crazy slow rollout of the NEVI chargers is a national disgrace. 3+ years in with no substantive progress. Lots of reliable chargers are more important than car price in my mind for the long term viability of EVs.

  • We put 12K miles a year on the MME and it resets "normal" in my car expectations. I travel on business frequently and rent gas cars as a reminder... I may buy a hobby car, but my daily will never again be gas.

  • In terms of depreciation, I think in terms of out of pocket cost... my MME cost $40K after tax rebates (this is what people in my state actually paid) so that is the starting point in my thinking, not the $50K it priced out at. And... over the 40+ years I've owned cars, they are worth ~55% of initial price after 3 years.... so it's doing what I expected in terms of residual.

Guys,

I understand the frustration. I can tell you that once you get the adapter; it is Awesome. I used it this past weekend for the 1st time; even went a little out of the way to use the Supercharger. It was delivery juice to my car with in 3-4 seconds. I stopped at 3 different SCs and all 3 no issues pulling up close enough and getting electrons within seconds. I never had a failure or had to move to a different stall.

In all fairness, I also used EA on the way home (Spartanburg, SC Sam's Club) and it connected on the 1st try and charged the car pretty well. However, I'm like a dog at the pound that has been beaten; the hand goes up to pet me and I wince and hide (that what it is like pulling up to an EA station). Hopefully it fades over time.

Good Luck to everyone and let's hope Musk keeps his promises to Ford and to us by extension!!!
