I would think that Tesla has contract language to cover the delays and other issues, but I know for a fact that Musk refused to implement the recommended due diligence terms that some of his lawyers wanted in the Twitter purchase. We don't have access to any of these contracts, and the history of Tesla's timely delivery do not bode well for those waiting for their official connector.

With that said, this is also a problem for Ford - see last year's Blue Cruise promise, the really bad experience people have had with the HVBJB failures, and replacement plans. If you really want to charge at Tesla, then you should get an A2Z adapter. They are good.

Effectively no degradation. You can watch the reviews on Tom Moloughney's State of Charge YouTube channel.

I can tell you that the Tesla-engineered adapter barely gets warm during a full charging session of my Extended Range Lighting.

I definitely agree with you on that.

Not sure I agree that DC charging is all that critical, however. Most people just don't want to bother with the hassle. Of course, there are EV owners that care deeply about charging on the road, but they are not a large percentage of all car owners. At least not yet.

Not the initial delay, because that was happening for 1-2 months before the April 30 layoffs. Ford would have needed at least a few thousand shipping from Tesla in March to meet all their April delivery dates. And a few thousand more shipping from Tesla in April to meet May delivery dates. All before the April 30 layoffs.

But subsequently, the layoffs likely made it even worse.

I'm in the 1400''s and have very little confidence in June. As Steve has pointed out, Tesla would have to have shipped a large amount already.

I've rooted against NACS since Day 1. I do not think kow-towing to Tesla is gonna work out well for these car mfg. You are basically surrendering major control of an absolutely critical aspect of EV ownership to a rival company.
My hope is for the other charging companies to quickly upgrade/change their connectors to NACS. Or not. Just make them as reliable as the Tesla SCs!

thing about that is, whether we like it or not literally millions of teslas on the road, the largest network for charging in the US is Tesla. That the other manufacturers didn't go with the Tesla plug design back then was a mistake, tho perhaps they didn't have a choice. I mean three years later, the mach e charging plug is being phased out.

FYI, my adapter #1717 original may date pushed to june. I don't actually use public charging so it's not really an issue. but it'll be nice to have the adapter just in case.

My point is you are overthinking a CEO's interview. He wasn't doing that sort of math. You are literally turning his off the cuff numbers and some WAGs into an accounting sheet.

We don't know that 2,000 number is right. We also don't know how many are planned for a June delivery.
