You think the layoffs were the same people that man the machine that spits out adapters?

That's manufacturering folks, isn't it?
If the educated guesses on the various EV news outlets are correct, the adapters are made at the Buffalo NY plant. If that's the case, there were a few rounds of layoffs there as well — including the people that run the machines.

There are a bunch of "ifs" in that though.

The EV charging infrastructure fight in North America was Electrify America's to lose. They did so and in spectacular fashion. Only Stelantis has failed to reach an agreement with Tesla to allow access to the SuperCharger network.
You think other manufacturers will get access? That's funny.

True. But sometimes you win by losing. EA may very well be better off having lost this battle.

The Dieselgate payments in lieu of a fine have ended. EA needs a cash source.

Latest reports I've been hearing are about 4 weeks to get an A2Z. Usually good responsive communications though.
They are quoting 6/19 - 6/26 delivered right now, so that is 2 to 3 weeks.

Thinking I might order my A2Z adapter ahead of my mid-July trip… not sure there is promising news
Ha .. The A2Z adapter I ordered in late April for my late-June trip is finally being shipped - hopefully gets here by mid-June. Good luck with your order.
My free Mach-e adapter had been pushed out to August last I checked .. don't know what it's now, don't care. Will try to unload on eBay when it finally shows up.

That's a little better. Some that recently got theirs said it was about 4 weeks. But that was on-time with their quoted estimate so sounds like they're getting faster.

They may have received that final $500M payment (of 4) by now, but each was 2.5 years apart and intended to cover that long (from 2017-2026), so I think they're probably OK for a couple of years still. But by 2026 or 2027, they better be making a lot more revenue to survive on (plus whatever taxpayer money they can grab).

Pretty much. The $2b was required to be spent on infrastructure and public education, with the vast majority going to infrastructure. It was not intended to be used as funding for any company’s day to day operations. Yes, the final payment is intended to bring them up to 2027 with some split between California and everyone else though I no longer recall the exact percentage (40-60???). I believe the public education terms were fulfilled ages ago.
