It's decent discount; and there are not many used MME in Calgary. Besides-i like warranty

Dealer is only giving you a discount of $3,500 of their own money. Remainder of discounts are $8,000 from Ford of Canada and $5,000 from Canadian Government. There are a lot of new 23 models around. I live in Lacombe 150 kilometres north of Calgary and our Ford dealer has 9 new non GT 23 models In stock.

With all due respect, I disagree with you. As the owner of a job 1 2023 with powerup 5.1.1 firmware, I have very mixed emotions about Ford getting around to pushing OTAs to my car. Sadly, it appears that Ford software developers aren't as anal retentive about pushing bug free firmware as they should be - so getting those OTAs might be as much a curse as a blessing.

I currently have one "flaw" that I've read would be fixed by an OTA (regarding the liftgate button requiring two presses.) However, every other aspect of my car works as far as I'm aware. I haven't had any stray idiot lights, my 1PD works, I can do L2 charging without a hitch, and so on. I can even have my speedometer on the center of the IPC. Having that tiny issue with the liftgate, but no other problems, is a Very Happy situation for me. I might be missing plug and charge, or telsa related stuff. I don't have an adapter, so I wouldn't know.

I've read too many threads of people getting updated to 6.x and suddenly things aren't working just right. For those people, it's a massive waiting game of hoping that the new OTA (that might fix an issue - or might not) gets pushed to them.

(As a result of this message, I'll likely find my car was updated to 6.8 or something this morning, despite my having OTAs turned off.)
There have been issues with software updates delivered as OTAs. I use FDRS and occasionally accidentally get an OTA from time to time. The issues I have encountered, minor as they have been, are nothing compared with the positive benefits that the available updates have provided. The car is smoother overall and all those updates have enhanced my ownership experience.

If you turn off OTAs there are still OTAs that your car will be sent regardless. And if you opt to not receive the large majority of OTAs that would normally go out you will eventually find things not working, like navigation. And you won’t be getting any new updates to the Sync interface. But we all make choices.

Thanks; i did not realize there are both (discounts); i thought it's 8K only. Hmm, now do i better look into a 2024 (freshly built model).

I guess my car choosing sequence was to study if the car (MME specifically) works for my area; and tech in general. Have to do more due diligence on my end.

Hello; sorry it's me again; visited my local Ford yesterday and it's tempting to buy 2023 Mach E (brand new, 70km only; thus a decent discount). So apparently it's been sitting on their lot for 1-1.5 years, thru the winter in Calgary; not clear if the car has been ever (or regularly) charged during this period.

I hope there are experts here who can help understand if makes sense to buy this car or never touch (for example the battery was impacted severely; or some glitches etc). I will insure the software will be up to date; but anything else?

Thanks in advance for your help.
ElviBel,

here’s a suggestion, if you’re not already familiar with it.

https://evsociety.ca/about-ev-society/

it’s a registered non profit in Canada. They evidently have chapters throughout Canada including Calgary. I have watched a couple of their webinar rebroadcasts on YouTube. My impression is they are professional. If any Canadians are reading this and have different views, all I can say is you’re much closer to the situation and have a better understanding of the group than I do and can advise OP accordingly.

A last note, as others have commented, you need to evaluate your use case for a vehicle. My recollection of Calgary from the airport and on a bus up to Banff and back a month before the world closed down in early 2020, is that Calgary proper isn’t too hilly.

But once you get out of town the geography changes dramatically. If you like to head into the mountains during the winter snow fun season you may want to consider AWD regardless of what brand you buy or lease.

best of luck,

From the image of the ad the OP posted...

It's a STANDARD range select. It has the LFP battery (and therefore bigger heater, but that battery type hates cold.) It's a 2023.5 (job 2.)

Unless the CA cars are spec'd differently, that implies RWD, all season tires, no free EVSE.

If someone is able/willing to check FDRS, the vin is 3FMTK1S54PMB00465.
How can you tell 23 or 23.5 from a Select? I know the 23.5 SR Premium had different wheels than the 23.

The dealer's detail page had two details that reveal it as a job 2:

1. LFP battery (not an option for job 1)
2. 11 KWh charger (would be 10.5 on a job 1)

I know dealers don't want the mileage to run up but would keeping the battery 40-60 percent and having someone working for the dealership about 30 miles away drive it once every 6 weeks be better for the car?

No, they're not going to do that. It would be nice if they can charge the 12v battery every 2-3 weeks. But since some have been sitting on lots for around a year, they probably figure it's easier to just let the 12V battery die and replace if necessary.

First of all, that article relates to DRIVING on PZERO tires, second his vehicle doesn't have them. So it's a moot point...
No to be pedantic but this is what they say both driving and STORAGE at cold temps damages he tire " In fact, should summer performance tires even be exposed to near- or below-freezing temperatures, tread compound cracking or tread block chipping can occur. Once a tire has been damaged in this way, it will need to be replaced. And, as both types of damage only occur as the result of improper use or storage",

I'd thought the car was a GT.

I bought my 2023 (build date of June 28th 2023) on June 1st of this year. So far, I haven’t had problems. My high voltage battery shows a SOH of 99.5 in car scanner and the 12v battery charges up to 90% every time I drive it.

The software is very out of date (it updated to 5.1.1 on the 6th and that was it) but that might be an advantage in itself (as long as I don’t care about Tesla plug and charge). If it works, don’t fix it.

That's said, can i guess what is battery degradation by knowing the range if charged to 100%. I can ask the dealer to fully charge to see the charge, if this is within 90% of the original range - would it mean it's sort of ok? Or i am misunderstanding some part of the fully charged battery? Thanks
