At some point I feel like the Maps integration started working differently in my car.

It used to be that the Instrument Panel would show me the Google Maps next step constantly in the display. So even if the next step was "turn right in 5 miles" I could see that in the Panel without having to keep checking the tablet screen for next step.

But now it only shows the next step when that next step is imminent - like in the final .5 mile beforehand or something like that, as the blue bar starts to go down showing the timing of that step.

I MUCH preferred when I could at a glance know what my next step is and how soon (or not) it was coming. Does anyone know if there is a setting or something I can use to get that back?

Thanks!

Nope. That's how it is now, 0.3 miles to your turn.

it really sucks. i like to know which lane i need to be in, which direction i need to look for signs, etc. to tell me 0.25 miles (15 seconds when driving 60mph) away is crazy

now i look at the main screen for all the directions. the IPS is one of the reasons i bought this car, now made (mostly) pointless (still has speed, signals, etc)

Doesn’t hurt to record feedback about this in the car. Agreed that it was an odd change that limits easily visible useful info. At least now with the latest APIM the distance to destination always show up on the IPC when using Apple Maps

Agree this is a terrible change. This integration from Google maps was a major selling point for me regarding the cars technology and I actually think this dramatically impacts the usefulness if this feature.

When is google maps going to support EV Routing/Charging and displaying SOC% on arrival? Can't believe Apple maps beat google to this.

I don't think it's a bad change, but the interval should be larger or adaptable. 0.3 mi is too little when you're in the far left lane (HOV, for example).

I think the issue is actually Android Auto, they don't have an interface to expose the underlying car data. Then different apps will have access, which will be SWEET. Imagine using ABRP without needing a dongle.

Sometimes you wonder why a company is taking so long with a feature like this. They might have internal versions. They might have an issue rolling out AA changes to the underlying low-level APIs that they have to get signoff from manufacturers. There might be a patent issue (like apple has the patent). There might be issues of how to present the security & privacy controls on the car screen. It might be "just" an execution issue.

I do look forward to the day Android auto apps can read a few of those key car data. The charging apps (most of which support AA) would also gain access to the charge state, that'll be SWEET.

@Ford Motor Company would be amazing if you guys can record this feedback and reconsider this poor user experience change.

Agreed, I don't like the change. I generally have my Large Screen off for long drives and like that I USED to be able to glance down and see the next turn and distantce to.

I wonder if there is some setting in ForScan that might help with this...
Is this a Ford issue or a Google issue?

I don't think I ever had directions on my instrument panel (unless I am using built-in navigation)

I am a heavy Waze user and, like others on this thread, I would really like to see my upcoming turns on the instrument panel.

That being said, I have no problem glancing at the tablet to see where I need to be... My eyes are always cycling between left mirror, right mirror, rearview mirror, tablet and, of course what's up ahed.

In my car, using either carplay or the built in nav, I only see the next turn on the IPC if it's within the next 1/2 or 1/3 mile. I've never seen anything different than this.
