Why is this showing up now when I ask Siri to send a message? I never had to open an app to do this until today? Anyone know why this is?

oh,... you got the 6.14 update. The first one is what used to be the home icon. The second one is what used to be the "control" icon. The last one is for your cameras.

so now my question is if I press the areas does it show what the cameras are picking up? You seem to know a lot so my other question is before i could say siri send a message to "ruth" for example and it would create the message. Now if i say send a message I am getting a screen that says siri need you to open the messenger app - why do I need to do that? I never had to open the app and where would I open it ? On my phone???

sorry ...had to watch the president / hmmm - I see that the icons look different yet they are the same as you showed me so why is it asking me to open my messenger app to send a text when I am on CarPlay and normally I can just say siri send a message to so and so ....

If you press the camera icon, and your car is going slow enough (I don't know the exact speed, but I think you have to be moving less than 5 MPH) it will show the cameras. It's kind of useful for parking in some cases (but it can also become disorienting if you aren't used to using them.)

If you're moving above a certain speed and press the camera button, it will just pop up a message telling you that the cameras aren't unavailable at that speed.

That's completely unrelated to Ford's Sync and the car, and relates to just the iPhone and the apps installed on the iPhone. I'm going to bet that you recently installed or updated a "Facebook" app on your phone. That "messenger" thing looks like Facebook messenger is trying to send a message. I don't use Facebook, so I can only take some guesses here...

If you want to send your message to Ruth using facebook messenger, then tap the "yes" button to allow Siri (which is the voice on your iphone) to use Facebook messenger to send a message.

If you want to send your message to Ruth using the iphone "messages" app (also known as iMessage), then instead of "send a message to Ruth", try using the command "Send a text to ruth." (This is only a guess. I don't use facebook, so I'm not sure how to handle the specific situation you're having.)

I know - the problem was when i attached the photo I attached the wrong photo and I couldn't delete it I did, however, attach the right folder in the third post - ugh - sorry about that!!!

Yes, they do not seem to like leaving well enough alone.

Looks like you can do it from the screen, just tap yes. Or do it in the Siri settings on your phone. Are you intending to use messenger (Facebook) or were you trying to send a text?
