Nope, definitely not. I live in an area (western Maine) where there are virtually no EV, my dad's will be the first in our neighborhood and one of 3 in this wider area of 10,000 people. But anti-EV sentiment is extreme, trying to get an outlet for charging and electricians are trying to talk him out of EVs! Despite the fact that he was an electrical engineer (who also bought a '66 Mustang as his first new car), he's very old school Mainer but most everyone in northern New England (friends and family included) thinks EVs are a bunch of Chinese-invasion, California liberal crap.
Sounds like my situation here in Alaska even being a retired EE. Except no negative pushback experienced on my end. Still the people in your area got their attitudes from somewhere. I always thought back East it was live free or die but I guess it is live free my way or die! My brothers in PA are also EV bashers for some reason.

None of the parts that goes on the gassers automobile are built in America not only other using foreign oil they’re using foreign parts that’s sick
That’s not even vaguely true.

Don’t rely on the ideology of a gasser aka Petro heads. They don’t know what it feels to not pump $100 into their tank every week and you won’t convince them that they don’t need to go 400 miles every day Autoparts & Big O are convincing them. They need lifetime parts ie alternator, starter water, pumps, hoses clamps they was born that way.

if someone is anti EV, (s)he is probably a Fox viewer and/or very old. This is a minority idiology and such people are not leaders. Once they begin to see more and more on the road, they will follow the crowd — unless they work for Exxon where buying an EV might get them fired.

Usually the fossil drivers complain that there's:
1. Queues at the charger or
2. There's no queue's at the chargers so there's no demand.

This was from one person.

Well which one do you want to see? They had no answer
Well, those aren’t mutually exclusive problems. They are both real problems that point to a misallocation of resources. You can die of thirst and die of drowning.

It's just politics, a great new technology is here to stay and the ice engine will fade away.
Lithium Ion is not a great new technology. It’s been powering leaf blowers and laptops for nearly twenty years. The same batteries power our cars - just a crap ton more of them.

The ICE won’t fade away until a truly great new battery technology finally makes EVs practical for the masses.

Just the human and ecological toll it takes just to get the materials to make the batteries should turn everyone one away from them. But I guess as long as it happens in a foreign country far away it ok.
All true. But not a concern for those of who had no “green” pretenses for buying the car.

Also, odds are good there’s a dab of child/slave labor or environmental chicanery somewhere in the supply chain of most of the goods we enjoy. Definitely including our smartphones.

With home solar installed getting an EV was a no brainer. It’s hilarious to hear some knuckle dragger tell me Solar won’t work cause it’s too cloudy/cold in Michigan. I let my wallet do the talking and tell them how much my energy and gas bills dropped. I realize as most of you do too that the tired, misleading propaganda against EV’s in the media comes from sources that desperately need to protect their ICE and fossil fuel investments. Reminiscent of the tobacco and opioid industries shenanigans. Still, I fully admit EV’s aren’t suitable for many and stay away from giving sermons to those that confront me with their “facts”. Meanwhile, I’ve upgraded my wine choices considerably with the money I’ve saved from the gas pump!
What was your break-even point on that solar install? And what would it have been without subsidies?

They aren't the same batteries. Not by a long shot. If you compare today's batteries to those of 20 years ago you will find a large difference in terms of chemistry, energy density, management, discharge rates, and longevity.

Electric Vehicles are here to stay, my battery warranty is 8 years 100, 000 miles and will probably out last the car body and me! I would say the masses have it and the technology that brings the lithium ion battery to this level of durability is new. Progress never stands still, CATL is producing sodium ion batteries for BYDs EVs now, every major truck and bus manufacturer has an electric model for sale now, many cities in Europe and Asia have outright banned internal combustion engines. Who knows, what cost, weight and energy density battery will be the next best to power EVs or even the next best electric motor technology. But I can say with confidence ice will fade away and the electric vehicles adoption curve is just getting started!

Ford Mustang Mach-E Ev community must stick together. The gassers are sick in the head caterpillar-793-ac-electric-driv

So much stereotyping on these kinds of debates.

I turned off the television 10 years ago. So I certainly haven't watched "the news" since. Rather liberating, actually.

But it appears that I can decipher what station someone watches by whether they have the same viewpoint on EV's as me? ??

I don't know if I can buy that. Isn't the viewership of television news like at an all time low?

The original break even point as figured by pros (with tax break) was 16 years. However this was based on our historical usage at that time which changed considerably once we had solar put in. We began replacing gas burning grills and stoves and also added the MME. Now payback time is actually improving. As has the resale value of the property.

Yeah, luckily there are no hose clamps or pumps to fail on the MME

Yes, Ford need to redesign this. On the other hand, the hoses and clamps are not working under high pressure like in an ICE so, in theory should last longer.

It's the fact they wanted their cake and eat it as well and couldn't offer a reasoned debate which then degenerated into a rant against EV's and EV owners. This is from a so-called friend who I did get on well with up to this point.

I often see deserted petrol stations so that must mean there's no demand for ICE vehicles.

I sometimes see queues at petrol stations so that must mean there's not enough pumps for filling up ICE vehicles.

The logic therefore is that ICE vehicles and the refuelling facilities are not fit for purpose.

What high pressure hoses does an ICE have that we don’t?

Seems we have about the same amount of crap to break as any other car on the road. Add into that the extra software bugs issues and sensitivity and there is good reason why BEVs haven’t gotten great reliability ratings…….yet.

As someone who owns a Ford Expedition and a Ford Mustang Mach E, I can't tell you how many times I've changed my mind on which car I want to drive. Both ICE and EV have their issues, don't buy into the hype of either side. I'm assuming this post has to do with propaganda from folks who are anti-ev.

I can't help but feel most of the EV backlash is due to politics. If these vehicles weren't getting government subsidies via the tax credit or mandated such as California's 2035 EV mandate, there wouldn't be as much backlash. Years ago, Ev's were cool to everyone but unaffordable for many. Tesla, love them or hate them, were trailblazers in this space and made EV's cool.

Lastly, it's not popular to say this on an EV forum but I'll be honest. I'm a right leaning person politically speaking, and I'm sick of the anti-ev talk coming from right leaning conservatives. I do feel many conservatives have been brainwashed into thinking "EV BAD", in the same manner that left leaning liberals think "ICE BAD".

Back to my first paragraph though, I own an ICE Expedition and an EV Mustang. I love both cars (most of the time), and wish people could reset their pre-conceived notions on each vehicle and enjoy them for what they are, vehicles that get you from point A to point B. But, the Mustang is way more fun to drive ?
