About 15 years ago when ebikes were very uncommon, I was coming out of a store when someone asked me about my ebike. I told him it was all electric. I showed him the motor, the battery, the built in charger . . . Then he asks, "How many miles per gallon does it get?" I replied it got around 50 miles per kWh. He scratched his head.

The question after that is “how far will it go?”

The answer to the silly questions that seems to work best is, it’s like your phone, you come home at night, plug it in and it’s full and ready to go the next morning.

When I get the perplexed look after that statement, I then ask if they would rather have their current phone or a different one where every three or four days they had to stop at the phone shop to fill-er-up.

It will be great, they can fill the phone in 5-minutes vs the inconvenience of having to plug it in before bed and have it charge while you sleep.

I had this moment with a guy that I work with and he now has an EV.

Not long after I got my car my wife and I were at an open house. I had driven my Mach-E and when I pulled up other potential buyers had stopped to talk to me about it (they recognized it was a Mach-E and thus knew it was electric). Then the one realtor starts asking me about it and I explained that it was electric - at which point she started asking me how often I have to change the oil on it. After several tries of explaining that there was no gas engine and thus it never needed oil she gave me the "oh I see" but it was absolutely clear that she still thought that it was a hybrid - and that I was an idiot.

I only put premium electricity in my MME, it is more expensive, but worth it
Keeps the electron injectors clean and working well
I don't sense any hesitation or rough idle like before when I used regular electricity

The point is some people will actually believe it. ?
