I'm confused - the cars have the same top speed, right? The GT PE got there faster, hence the second faster time. Both cars can hit top speed in less than a 1/4 mile, which is pretty amazing, really. Please clarify why you're "so mad at Ford."
You have it confused. For our purposes, Trap speed refers to the terminal velocity achieved in the 1/4 mile. The 4X consistently runs between 13.4-13.6 secs E.T. (Elapsed time) at 103-103.5mph according to published test data (and confirmed by my Dragy runs). Yes, the GT runs 12.4-12.7 sec 1/4 mile E.T., but the trap speed in published test results is usually 101-103mph, thus, it is up to a full second quicker to the 1/4 mile traps but it’s speed is much lower than the E.T. would indicate. Also, testing has shown the 4X to be about 2 secs quicker to 110mph than the GT. So, the GT is first to the 1/4 mile, but, the “lowly” 4X is already sucking it up big time. Btw, the top speed for the 4X is 113-114mph (I’ve verified it) and the GT is 124mph according to test data.

All because of the 5 second limit that severely curtails GT acceleration past about 75mph. So, hence, I’m mad at Ford. 😂

More to come... video and such in a few days in a new post of my experience with the 1 year old GT PE on the track last weekend. 4,500 miles, etc.

My takeaway: as expected the five second power limiter kicks in and an incredibly consistent speed at the 1/4 mile -only 0.28 MPH range across five runs, from 103.35 to 103.63 MPH. It's still accelerating albeit slowly with the limiter active.

How much/how long do you have to back off WOT to reset or reduce the 5 second limit? Could you floor it for 5, back off a little for 1 second, then floor it again? I wonder if it's possible to "trick' the limiter into starting over, giving you higher average access to max HP. Probably still have a drag from the gray bars along the way, but that's a different system, right?
Short answer:
You can’t trick it.

Long answer:
5 seconds (from a stop) is just ONE of many ways they limit power.

Other limiters (that result in less than 5 seconds)-
Battery temp
State of charge
External Temp

and

Discharge rate over time.

The last one is the “you can’t trick it” one. It’s the reason you get gray bars cruising at 75 mph+ or with back to back acceleration.

To expand on this, that means that the GT or GT-PE putout a lot more power than the 4x for the first 5 seconds. After 5 seconds, The GT and GT-PE put out so much less power than the 4x they make the sam or less trap speed than the 4x. That is what he is mad about, along with many others. 🤔🐩
Not exactly.

It’s more like “more power at first” for the GT, then “roughly equal power” when 5 seconds is up.

It’s kinda like this (not exact numbers)

0-70: GT 5 seconds, 4x 6.5 seconds
70-100: GT 7 seconds, 4x 7 seconds

That’s in ideal conditions. But the drop off in crap conditions (extreme cold for example) it’s possible the GT is slower than the 4x. Has never been confirmed though.

but if all categories are equal, speed, fun, cargo space, practicality, operating costs, tech...Thats where this car shines, I have had a few people say "my mustang is faster, or this supercar is faster," and I am like, show me how many $40k AWD suvs can out run me?

I agree with this (that's why I got one after all!), even though I'm not too sure 40k is an accurate depiction of the typical MME price point.

That said, best in category is a very far cry from the greatest of all times.

My select with awd and comfort and tech, well after rebates... people always ask "how much" do you give the cost before or after rebates?

I can't speak to the greatest car ever in the history of mankind. However, for me, it is the greatest car I've ever owned. So for me, it's the GOAT!

I usually tell them how much it would cost them to buy one rather than how much I personally paid - that's probably more useful/actionable.

I like my MME, but a recent trip caused me to rent an ICE car. Rural South Georgia in the Waycross region has NO CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE. No hotels offer charging and the only charger in town was at a Nissan dealer, which was about 2 miles from our hotel. We rented a 2021 Toyota Camry with a 4-cylinder and 8-speed auto trans. At one time traveling on back roads, I was getting 49mpg. Over-all I got 44mpg.
Saying good things about a Toyota aside, I would have rather drove my MME. It's weird now listening to an engine rev and the trans shirting.
I live in the Tampa Bay area, actually Pinellas County where I spot EV's all the time, and more and more MME's. I did not spot even one in Georgia.
