No, that's not what I am saying at all.

Taxes paid on your electric bill are completely separate from Road use. That Revenue goes somewhere else.

I am suggesting that federal and state gas tax can be removed from the price of gasoline in diesel at the pump if annual registration fee is calculated using inspection data with actual miles driven and weight of the vehicle. And that portion of the fee goes directly to maintain roads and bridges as the federal and state gas tax does currently. All I am suggesting is a way to collect the same money regardless of fuel type
So you would apply this uniformly to all vehicles, regardless of “fuel” type?

What money? As was stated earlier, mileage is already reported at registration (and also reported for state inspections, which are mandatory). When registering your vehicle online, you'd simply enter the mileage and the fee would be calculated accordingly at checkout. This could work for every single car, not just EVs.

And also, we both know that EVs won't be 1% of vehicles in the state for very long. This is future proofed.
1. Governments aren’t very good at planning for the future ?
2. Just because data exists in one warehouse doesn’t mean that the systems to use it exist.
