Hi, All.
Started getting an incessantly annoying warning at every start-up indicating a Park Brake Fault and a call to get serviced. However, brake was not engaged and alert usually only occurred at startup. Now alert is ever two minutes and on one occasion Auto Hold Fault appeared as well, then Auto Hold shutoff. Tho Park Brake Fault continued. Only once did the park brake engage a few days back and car wouldn't budge, but then after a few re-starts, it disengaged and drives fine, despite the song playing over and over. Anyone have this issue?

Also have this icon which doesn't appear on the list in Owners Manual. Any clues?

Thanks!

Probably the dreaded park brake wiring harness fault.

There’s a park brake wiring harness at each rear wheel brake unit, something happens to them, thinks it’s oxidation of connectors or something.

Happened to me. Was fixed under warranty.

I’d get it done before you can’t get the brakes off!

I was lucky but the day dealer took it in they managed to get the brake on and couldn’t get it off again without a struggle!!

I just sent it.

Funny, at dealer now and they found a RECALL on the harness connector. WHY would I not know this...Ford Pass app? Email?

Hi, All. Quick update.
Brought into the dealer, they ran my VIN and found 2 recalls that I didn't know about (FordApp, on-board and email all silent about it) related to the Park Brake Fault. Ordered harnesses, popped back in the following week and work completed in half a day. All good, although obscure dash icon still unknown, yet now gone.

Now if I can only get my remote (fresh battery) to lock and unlock the vehicle without standing on top of it, and to get the text sender to display correctly upon new notification (sometimes pulling up the names of old girlfriends), I'd be all set, tho that's for another day (and thread).

✌?

Because they deal with it upon failure and not as a preventative measure ??ā€ā™‚

This has been happening to me for the past month on and off. Today for the first time, the car would not disengage the brakes and I was stuck. We used our other car for the day, came back and the brakes seems to be working again.

What is the cause of the problem? I have attached a photo of my screen error which is different than above.

Is this currently covered by a recall? My car was purchased in 2021 so I am unfortunately out of the warranty coverage.

Anybody with a 2023 have this problem? I got the ā€œPark Brake Faultā€ message a few days ago. I scheduled a service appointment, which was about 2 weeks out. I got the error message every time I turned the car on or off. Yesterday, I didn’t get the message at all. This morning, the message was back and my left side parking brake was locked up. I was just about to take my neighbor to the airport. Doh! I was able to get them to the airport in my wife’s car. I called the dealership once they opened, and they said to call roadside and get it towed in right away, and hopefully they can get it fixed before my appointment, which is one week from today.

Brought my car to the dealership today and they told me that it was a loose/faulty connector to the parking brake. Simple fix but of course I will be charged for the $300 diagnostic fee + 1/2 hour of labor. Just glad that it was not a mechanical defect.

I reached up and wiggled the connector at the caliper, but it didn’t seem to do any good. This is a known issue where a TSB has already been issued. It’s too bad that you were charged to have it fixed. I’m sure I will be, too. At least Ford sent out a roll-back to take it to the dealership and offered a Lyft ride if I needed it.

Thankfully, I got stuck in my driveway and not at the airport terminal!

UPDATE: Got a text from the dealership while I was out of town today. My car is fixed, and all I owe is $100 for the flatbed tow through Ford roadside. I can’t complain about that, since I am outside of the 36k mile warranty.

CORRECTION: The flatbed tow was free. The $100 was the deductible on the Ford extended service plan that I didn’t know I had. I guess the previous owner bought it.
