Forgive me if this has been answered. I searched and didn't see it.

I've seen several threads about the Mach E not coming with a tow hook or threaded tow point in the front. However, I popped my front cover off and it certainly looks threaded. Am I not understanding, or has Ford made changes?

It sure appears that I could thread a hook into this.

Ok, so they did a running update on it then if that didn't exist before. Mine is brand brand new, 5/24 production date.

I suppose that means I can order a hook to put in the back then.

I just have a hole on my '22 Premium. My concern has always been where to hook on the rear if you skid into a snowbank or ditch. In my experience, a rear recovery point is more useful than a front one.

Yes, especially since we have those two holes on the underside of the chassis. Unfortunately, not even the EU cars get a rear recovery point. ??

Some people installed trailer hitches for this purpose. ?‍♂?

The photo is too close for me to understand where this is. Can you be more descriptive or send another photo a little further back?

That is the hole in the frame directly behind the cover in the front bumper, passenger side.

Technically, the threaded hole is in the bumper bar, located behind the access cover for the frunk jumpers. Note that it’s a left-hand thread. It’s a unique, non-standard thread pitch used pretty much only for factory tow hooks. ??

I'm not sure it'd be robust enough to move the car if it were bricked tho. I've read horror stories of how awd bricked in garages having to be dragged out because tow companies don't have the right equipment.

True. I see those recovery points more along the lines of I got myself into some sand or snow I can't get out of, and the vehicle can assist in getting out. Definitely not dead pulls on a locked up vehicle.

Yeah the threads aren’t there on older cars.
Do know approximately when they started threading them? I didn't pop my cover off but curious if my July 2023 might have it. That might give me a decent option to mount the front plate (since I really don't care for the other two no-drill options).

EDIT: Nope. Mine does not. Not even a hole at all, let alone anything with threads. That's sad.

Pretty sure it started with the 2024 model. There have been no reports of US-spec 2023 or earlier models with the threaded receiver. ??

first thing I did was install a hitch.... for bike rack, rear recovery hooks, and occasional utility trailer.

I would LOVE to have a tow hook in front... but my '21 has nuthin. Going to have to pull the front facia and bumper to drill a hole and get a plate behind it to thread into.
