I only had one key to begin with for my 2021 mach e and it got stolen. I bought two replacement keys on Amazon that got good reviews, and I've been calling around Ford dealers asking how much for programming. They're all going to charge at least 200 even if the keys don't work! Any ideas how I can get the programming for these key fobs without spending a fortune?

You might be able to try a locksmith. Some may be able to do it.

Otherwise the dealers are your only option and they will vary. I'd just try calling any that you're comfortable driving to (if you haven't already) and just compare. My dealer charged something like $70 to wipe out all of my keys and program two new ones but I've seen lots o reports similar to yours of $150-$200+.

The fobs on Amazon are great a third fob (you need the first two to program the third at home) but if you need a dealer to program the first two admin fobs... yeah they will charge you mechanic's hourly wage which is $200+ these days.

There are car locksmith types that can program your fob but I have no idea if that is possible in your situation with no fobs.

Didn’t Ford offer everyone who only got one key at purchase to get a key for free?

Yes, there was a CSP (I think it was a CSP) for the 2021 Job1 cars. I don’t know if it is still active. Maybe @Mach-Lee knows? ??

I got a free second fob from Ford last summer. Definitely work a call to a dealer or two to verify if they are still available.

I have a '21, too. I bought my second keyfob on Ebay and payed a dealer for reprogramming. Once the CSP was issued, Ford reimbursed the dealer, who then payed me for everything. I was taught that "it can't hurt to ask", so ask if Ford will pay to have both of your keyfobs reprogrammed in leiu of an additional physical keyfob. Ford Customer Service may be a good starting place.

Before my keyfob was reprogrammed, a "lock and key" company wasted my time by saying that they could do it, but their programming rig was inadequate. I havn't read everything, but I have never read of a locksmith company succesfully programming an MME keyfob.

I bought a 21 without the second key. I tried to get Ford or my dealer to do the CSP for the second key and they denied it because it was expired. I bought 2 genuine ford keys on ebay. One with the frunk button and had to pay 190 for programming. I called multiple dealerships and that was the cheapest I could find.

It sucks but it doesn’t seem like you have much of a choice but to pay the $$.

On a related note, I’m kinda glad some random person can’t just easily buy an eBay key and program it to my car without a dealership or a working set of keys.

It’s a pain, but also a layer of security.

They’re gonna be annoyed you bought your own parts. They would have made money on selling you the fob. Now they are going to up charge on programming so they can still get the same profit from you.

Shouldn’t be that way, but it is.
