Is that where it opens a small amount and then stops? I guess we got lucky with ours (2023.5) as it has never done that
FWIW, I dont see this related to fault, OTA or otherwise. In my car, this consistently behaves as: long click on the tailgate button, opens a few inches; short click & the tailgate opens to full or preset height. Foot swing under the rear, just opens as expected.

Now why Ford would want the small opening with a long press, who knows. But this is the behaviour in my car, every single time. Short press only.

interesting. I can’t say I have tried the long press which may explain why I haven’t had the tailgate issue.

on the topic of updates, oddly enough, after all these updates, the charging issue for which there is a TSB seems to have been resolved after one or multiple of these OTAs. At the charging goal, the blue lights go away and the car no longer accepts a charge from the charger. I am happy I won’t have to deal with the dealer for this anymore.

I received several updates, my preferred charging locations were erased, but all things considered, all is well.
I just got the update that erased all my preferred charging locations. I figured something was odd when I walked into the garage this morning and noticed I was fully charged. Looking at the app and charging history, it shows I charged at "Home" a few nights ago. So it still remembers a "home" location. Last night though it showed the street address. Since the update came while I was charging, it doesn't have any charge locations at all. So I'll need to hook up after my next drive and let it "find" me. Not the end of the world. I just hope this means my radio station presets didn't once again get lost.

Careful what you wish for, the next one might break the car, LOL
Like the most recent one that removed all locations and won't let you add or remove. ?

I got 6 updates in the last 6 weeks, then they stopped about the time people started getting locked out of their cars.

thanks a lot, yeah would really appreciate it!

The double honk happens if you exit the car and shut the door with fob/phone in pocket while the car is still on. Doesn’t matter if I haven’t even moved an inch away from the car, as soon as the door shuts,

H O N K ! H O N K !

Very annoying when rushing for work during the morning hours and I forgot my coffee or something. I can’t be the only one who deals with this every now and then when leaving my apartment complex at 4:00 in the morning.

Also, the in-car startup/seatbelt/door chimes are much too excessive. 2-4 chimes is reasonable, but more often than not, I count almost 8-10 chimes for very minor things like turning the car on without a seatbelt or opening a door with the car on. The loud, repeated bassey notes are particularly painful with tinnitus.

if you don’t mind, I have a few other feature requests/improvements I’d like to share whenever you get to speak to him!

Another very important feature I think would be a vehicle lock/unlock indicator in the FordPass app. One of my friend’s Hyundai has this in their app, and it’s extremely useful for confirming that the car did in fact auto lock itself after walking away from it. Right now, all it says is “vehicle parked” with isn’t very useful.

A “door/liftgate/frunk open” banner would also be very handy if someone forgot and left a door slightly cracked - especially the frunk, which requires a really firm hand to properly shut. Nothing crazy, just a small note somewhere in the app reading “door open” or “frunk open”. Hyundai’s equivalent app has vehicle lock/unlock indicators, as well as door open/close indicators for quickly checking and making sure everything’s shut tight and alright, so maybe the Ford team can take some notes from Hyundai’s app and implement something similar for checking vehicle security in FordPass.

I don’t know if this is possible, but would be much nicer to not have to punch in the entire door key code every time I want to open the frunk when the car is already unlocked or I’m standing right by the car, hands full, with fob and PAAK in pocket. Since the frunk has no external access point, making the 7/8 button press a one-touch operation when conditions are met would be sweet. Just like I can open the liftgate with a single button press on the rear when the car is already unlocked or the fob/PAAK happen to be nearby, making the exterior frunk access point a one-touch interaction under the same circumstances would really improve the usability/accessibility of the frunk!

Also on accessing the frunk: I think it would be much better to have the frunk and trunk buttons always visible on the center screen whenever in park, so that we don’t have to tap the settings icon, then wait 2-5 seconds for the icons to load before we can open the trunk/frunk from inside the car. The icons can gray out or even disappear entirely when driving, but as soon as we shift into park, both the trunk and frunk icons should immediately appear at the top row of the screen, without us having to first tap the settings icon. Would make opening both the trunk and the frunk from the inside much easier and quicker, especially considering that the center screen will shut off immediately as soon as a door is opened after powering off the car. Since those touch screen buttons are the only electronic access points inside the car for both the frunk and trunk, they should always be readily accessible wherever the vehicle is put in park.

Another Hyundai-inspired feature: when reversing, the rear camera turns on. Nothing different there. But when you shift into drive, the front camera comes on, and stays on until you reach a certain speed (probably 5-10 miles)! Right now, every time I shift into drive just to nudge a couple of inches forward, I have to tap the camera icon again so that I can see what’s near my front splitter. So I find myself tapping the camera icon every couple of seconds just to inch a little forward before switching to reverse again. Having the front camera come on and stay on when shifting into drive until you get to a certain speed would make parking into tight spaces much easier. I’ve always found Ford’s backup camera system to be the most accurate and easiest to use, just need this minor tweak would make it 10x better.

Last thing I can think of at the moment is the remote start timeouts. It cuts off whenever the frunk is opened, and you’re only allowed a total of two remote starts before it demands that you drive the car. I assume this is a legacy carry over from polluting ice vehicles, and such limitations are not necessary on the Mustang Mach E.

There’s no exposed engine under the frunk hood, so I don’t see why the car can’t be remote started and stay on when the frunk is opened, just like it can be remote started and stay on when the trunk is opened. Would be nice to be able to remotely start the vehicle and fully load up the frunk while the car is cooling/heating itself (just like when loading the trunk), without having to open the door manually start the car to keep it going.

Since there’s no polluting emissions coming out of this car that would a threaten anyone’s respiratory systems, I don’t see any problem with expanding the number of remote starts you’re allowed to have before driving the vehicle. The car shuts itself down after a while anyway, so it’s not like it’s going to be running all night. But I’ve had situations in the winter where it takes at least two remote starts to get the car sufficiently heated up. One day, I had to leave early for something, but couldn’t remote start the car as I had already used up the two remote starts the previous day to melt the ice off the glass. Removing the extremely limiting 2 remote start attempts would be awesome, especially for unexpected circumstances during cold climates.
Nice list, thanks.
Here’s two small things that seem to be so obvious yet so overdue:
1) surely, a 12v battery level indicator, most likely on the HUD (is there already, just needs v or %)
2) give us a volume level for the indicator sound, is so quiet as to be near useless.

FWIW, here in Australia (& NZ) there would appear to be no OTAs available and may well be a deliberate strategy from Ford AU because of issues that plague many EVs, not just Ford, and certainly is common with 12v battery issues. On the local Mach-E fora, it would seem that indeed that no one has yet received any OTA updates on these ‘new’ 2023 EVs for this region.

In any case, since picking up my 2023 Select only this last July, it has been plagued by consistency issues, sometimes it does this, sometimes it does not, etc etc. I just had a call back from the service centre - Sixteen SW updates [?!] to be applied, hooked up to battery support & will take overnight & tomorrow to do so. AND one would hope this should take care of that, or at least, ‘mostly’.

To date, problems had included:
  • Ford weather shields - drivers side manufactured incorrectly with large gap on leading edge, excessive wind noise in cabin, & poor quality finish throughout pics attached, last below); re-order of new parts & we the same defects on the driver’s side shields (passenger side fine, suggests production & mould defect, poor QA).
  • DAB+ Radio in Brisbane metro area does not work correctly; only shows a very limited range of stations, most of which produce no sound; there are no listings for any of the many DAB+ stations that I have used for many years on other cars or presently continue to use at home.
  • Cruise control auto distance tries to resume speed with unusual high acceleration (very unlike my last two cars with auto distance cruise).
  • Range is misleadingly advertised as 470k WLTP, the car has never fully charged beyond 440k.
  • Passenger side rear vision mirror sometimes has not unfolded on start.
  • Auto-hold has sometimes turned off (despite settings being set).
  • Tailgate sometimes makes warning sound when closing, sometimes not.
  • Auto walkaway lock & chirp sometimes works, sometimes not.
  • Welcome lighting sometimes works, other times not.
  • Driving mode change from Whisper to Engage sometimes unavailable.
  • Home charging off-peak scheduling suddenly not working, starts charging immediately (no destination charging set, no other charging locations set). *this one may well be user error, ie, requires more charging than the time allowed or so it starts charging immediately.

Maybe I never noticed, or has it always been there but I checked for an update when I got home today and an update installed for my a.m. radio. I thought I always had a radio in the car, but I never really checked.?

Looks like you both are 23 GTs. Nothing on my 23.5 GT. And yes, I have AM without that update so not sure what it is fixing or improving. Are you 23 or 23.5?
