Solved: The mysterious hand went away when I disabled "Park Hold / Hitch Improvement Feature" in the APIM. Thanks all for an entertaining thread.

I just went out and tried it in reverse with and without parking brake engaged. Did not seem to make any difference. Symbol didn't change.

I did enable some items that could have caused this to show - my main suspects are:

I will disable these one at a time and see if it goes away.

Too funny! FWIW, I just took a spin over to Wegmans in Chantilly and reversed into a parking spot. I made a point of looking for stray hands and red circles on the rear view mirror. Didn’t see any. The hand probably means you have totally wrecked your car, lost the anti-lockout OTA fix, voided the warranty, and doubled your depreciation. Good thing you stocked up on TJ wine!??

On vehicles I’ve had previously, it would turn off the rear proximity sensors. I would have to do this when a bike rack or boat was attached to the trailer hitch on the Escape or F-150. Otherwise it would be beeping all the time.

The red circle was added by me to highlight what I was talking about. I will have to drown my no warranty, totaled Mach E sorrows with some two buck chuck, or ogling the yummy mummies at TJs.
